For years, Xemnas had a list of goals to meet. Many of them, being small tasks, were easy to fulfill. Others were the usual milestones, ones he had not gone too far into. Primary and secondary education. College. A career. Perhaps even a chance to pursue more studies that could somehow fit into his busy schedule, maybe something that ran alongside his own teaching schedules in the history department of one of those prestigious universities. Life in general started to blur during that time, a pace which let him ease into his role. There were no issues with it; everything fell into place.

So what if he didn't remember much of his past. Every time someone asked out of curiosity, the reply was curt and to the point. Xemnas left questions like that unanswered; he figured he was too young to remember most of the earliest years of his life - memories he did not need to recollect and share with those who wondered about his past so openly. What he had before him and what was to come was all he needed to know.

But the perspective he steeled himself into believing was difficult to follow. Ignoring the nagging thought of filling in the blanks was almost impossible.

And then, it eventually changed.

Within a span of time ranging between several hours to a few minutes, one of those days rapidly went from ordinary to unexpected. Nothing was wrong at first; the courtyard's acoustics surrounding its central decorative fountain was perfect, as always. There were not many students around; there weren't any at all. It was nothing to be concerned about - in fact, it was quite beneficial in this situation. However, the preparation and practice of his lecture for the next class was interrupted.

By a woman.

Not just any woman. He had seen her before; she visited the campus often, either running errands across the grounds, chatting with other peers, spending much of her time in the library. While he was wondering why he hadn't realized this until now, she gave a brief introduction and the reason as to why she was interfering with his work. With a look, he gave her points for being concise. She quietly smiled in return, but her tone became a little more serious as she began talking to him about the idle thoughts he had never told anyone else about. Once that triggered a greater reaction from him, she cut to the chase: she revealed herself to be Mnemosyne, the titanide of memory, daughter of Gaia and Ouranos and the proud mother of the nine Muses. She said she had her hand in the matters surrounding Xemnas and his divine parentage. For one reason or another, the god (or goddess) wanted nothing to do with him, ridding themselves of their mortal lover and have the child conveniently forget everything by drinking the waters of Lethe. And, being set with a pool of remembrance near said river, Mnemosyne wanted no trouble and complied to the order. Letting that sink in, she continued, speaking of these mythological beings, mentioning the divine war growing between the gods and the titans and how they needed their children to serve and carry out tasks. Both sides wanted power, either maintaining or overthrowing what was currently in place, and would not rest until they defeated one another.

Being a neutral party by choice, Mnemosyne apologized for meddling in these affairs. No one wanted to claim responsibility in giving him the news; she took it upon herself to bear the message and accepted whatever consequences were to come from it. But Xemnas was not sure how to react.

Instead of accepting or rejecting his divinity right then and there, he said he needed to think.
