Series: Immortal Rain
Timeline: volume 2, when Machika's asleep on the train :U
Background: One day, I'm going to pick up a character that I can link this shit to. 8|
Rain grew up in a church orphanage with best friends Freya Audrant and Yuca Collabel. It was obvious that he was in love with Freya, however, a terminal illness and Freya's love for Yuca kept him from expressing such. Yuca arranged for the children and Freya to be used in a military experiement to create "angels"; Rain stayed behind unknowing of Yuca's intentions. When a news report told of creatures emerging from a bioengineering lab, Rain recognized a dead creation as one of the children and raced there to find Freya the only survivor. However, Yuca killed Freya, who was infected with the angel virus and fed her flesh and blood to Rain, gave him Freya's heart as a second heart and made a few other biomechanical changes to Rain to create him into Methuselah. Yuca told Rain that he will continuously be reborn, and every time he is reborn, Yuca will try to destroy humanity -- if Rain really believed in humanity, he should kill Yuca each time he is reborn. If, after all the time he was alive, Rain changed his mind about humans, Yuca had given him an ability that would help Yuca destroy all of humanity.
Rain then spent the next 600 years searching for the remaining angels if any had survived, only for his reputation as an immortal to spread, though no one knew his real name. Everyone -- bounty hunters, socialites, royalty -- all tried to kill Rain after some time in the attempt of gaining his immortality for themselves. A bounty was soon places on him to help this hunt. After a good 500 years, Rain ended up in a pseudo-Chinese country, was hit by a car and was believed to be dead. An assassin was asked to bury him and before he could be put in the grave, Rain poked his head out of the coffin and scared the hell out of the guy. His name was Zol and he killed for the city's mayor who was also his master who taught him how to survive (but not how to count. .. huh). Zol takes him back to eat, Rain finds out Zol has a not-thing with one of the waitresses-former-prostitute-who-is-pregnant. Rain tries to help her from being abused by the owner and helps with dishes and then ends up at Zol's place to rest up. Zol finds out the next day that the hobo was, in fact, METHUSELAH. I mean, being hit by a car and surviving wasn't proof enough, right? So Zol chickens out killing Rain while the guy's asleep, they and the girl Zol's crushing on bond more over crabs. Zol then goes to the mayor to find out just how much more killing he has to do until he's raised enough money to free the slaves. Rain jumps in, says Zol caught him in the attempt of helping because NO ONE WANTS SLAVES LIVING IN GUTTERS OKAY. But then they find out the mayor's Super Secret Plan was to get rid of his competitors in the slave trade so he could control everything and then have the newly appointed young king destroy the slums so they'd have nowhere to live. HOW DASTARDLY. Rain gets Zol and they escape, hide out, etc. Come up with a plan to save the slums but Zol's girl gets shot in the end, so they send her to a hospital in the capital of Raimei. Rain leaves the city, Zol telling everyone that the Immortal is off limits and claimed the bounty as his own. Months later, Zol is left with a baby and a letter explaining that the girl he loved died and Zol raises the girl up as his daughter. Except he refuses to be called, "Father", out of pure embarrassment. Years later, Zol was killed by younger assassins and Machika took up her "grandfather"'s scythe and set out to find the bounty Zol couldn't collect.
About ten years after the encounter with Zol, Rain ran into the young bounty hunter, Machika, claiming she wanted revenge for her grandfather's death. She vowed to become his grim reaper and began following him, telling their pursuers no one was allowed to kill him but her. When they reached Gargantua (a gigantic frozen lab for human experiments: the birthplace of Rain's immortality), Machika admitted she'd fallen in love with Rain and he didn't actually fight back his own feelings. However, Yuca -- now reborn in the body of a ten year old boy -- arrived with Sharem and her group of child assassins. Seeing as Rain didn't agree to help Yuca destroy humanity, Yuca released a new Angel. Rain put Machika behind a steel door, told her to wait for him at the border, and locked it to ensure her safety, but she broke through just in time to see the Angel impale Rain and crush one of his hearts -- she's unknowning of his two hearts. Yuca and Sharem took Rain's body with them back to their labs in Calvaria in the city of Raimei. Machika escaped Gargantua and waited for him at a certain place -- Rain had told her to wait.
A year later: Machika finally found her way and snuck into the city of Raimei, a metropolis amidst the deserts of their world. When she finally found him, he had been drugged with a transquilizor that kept him immobilized so Yuca could 'play' with him; Yuca kept him handcuffed in a room full of toys and books despite Rain not being able to move, speak, or think. He and Dora Folk, a scientist in the Calvaria company, completely healed him and repaired his heart. Meanwhile, Machika met up with old friend Ayla and they began to infiltrate the company's building with fake card keys intent on saving Rain. Machika got into an old control room and announced her arrival to Rain, who immediately began trying to move to free himself waking from the tranquilizor. After the announcement, Yuca went to Machika under the guise of Ys (Sharem's dead son) and tried to get her to safety from the building's security only for him to turn on her and release a dog-type angel against her to kill her. It jolted at her and they both went out the window moments while Rain tried to find her. Yuca found Rain in the control room and tried to convince Rain she was dead. As Rain was about to crush Yuca's throat, Eury Evans showed up to tell Rain that Machika was alive. She had managed to catch herself on a pole but was trapped. Eury and Rain caught a blimp and pulled it close, shaking the building so Machika would fall onto it to safety. Before they could reunite, the pilots of the blimp started to pull away and Machika went with them.
Yuca entered the destroyed room, intent to kill Eury but Rain helped him escape and stayed behind to face Yuca. But Eury instantly hacked into the security systems to enable Methuselah's escape and he jumped from the room. Unfortunately, Rain can't land from that height and Eury found him, took him to his place until he could recover, and then helped Rain escape when officials showed up at their doorstep. Yuca gave Dora the order to find Rain and they met in the middle of a highway, Rain saving Eury from Dora's angel.
Eury helped Rain come up with a plan to reunite with Machika (hey, Raimei is fucking huge and Machika's just a 15 year old girl, okay?). They arranged with an amusement park owner to have a Methuselah Bounty Hunt at his park with the promise that it would boost his attendence. Eury dressed as Methuselah and let the hunters chase him while Rain got into an animal costume and tailed Machika until he started being shot at by Dora's folks trying to capture Machika. They reunited and ran to find Eury ready with a boat for them to escape on.
Spoken / written languages: English :U It's unsaid if there are other languages in the series, English seems to be the universal language.
Abilities: Rain's abilities are rare to be seen, since he tries not to use them unless he absolutely has to. He has an incredible inhuman strength, able to move tanks, crush arms of small mobile suits, destroy a stone bridge with a single punch, that sort of thing. Hell, even his teeth are crazy strong, he broke through some inch-thick chains early on in the series. He also appears to have a good running speed, usually utilized when he's escaping runins with hunters. Rain's got two hearts, meaning if one of them is ...say... crushed, he'll still live. He's seemingly able to live through anything, but whether this is because of his immortality or because he has good luck finding people to help him out, it's hard to say.
Yuca also hints that Rain has an ability that can destroy all of humanity. Yuca only said it was, "the power of an Angel," and would only become functional should Rain choose to help Yuca destroy the world. As he is now, the ability lays dormant.
It should also be stated that there is a crucifix inbedded in Rain's original heart that regulates the DNA of the Angel blood in him. Should that cross be removed, his body's cells will no longer be able to handle the fusion and go out of control, Rain would no longer be able to contain his human form and become an Angel (even though he ...somehow managed to do it for a few weeks through sheer will alone, idk man).
NOW FOR THE SAKE OF ELEGANTE, I'm nerfing his abilities down because holy shit man.
strength: rather than being able to destroy a stone bridge with a single punch, Rain will have the most strength to destroy a table with a REALLY hard punch if he puts all his power into it
healing: Usually it takes Rain 24 to 48 hours to completely heal from his wounds. On the Elegante, it will take considerably longer depending on the injury (scratches will take normal time, impalements will take closer to a week, etc)
immortality: I talked with Otana about this a bit, and what we decided was his crucifix shaped stabalizer will not work on the Elegante. However, since I'm nerfing his strength down considerably, the Ichor in his sytem that would normally turn him into an Angel will not take effect as quickly. Otana said B could create a stabalizer for him and prevent the Ichor from taking effect, but not render him immortal.
Items: The clothes on his back and an old violin!
Third Person Sample:
Well this was an interesting place. It was almost like a train car except for a single person. He remembered seeing cars like this, they were usually on boats; he didn't use boats very often, he opted for trains or airships. Still, it was really odd because hadn't he just been on a train a few seconds ago? Machika asleep against him before he blinked and he was suddenly sitting on a boat? Weird, yeah. But, hey, six hundred years, you see some weird things, so Rain wasn't all that worried about it. All he had to do was wait until they made port somewhere, find a train to get back on the right track, right? Right. And there wasn't a doubt in his mind that Machika would realize he was gone, track him down, and follow him again, so there wasn't anything he could do about that. If one looked at things in that light, then things weren't really so bad.
Though... He could tell something was off. Usually, everywhere he went, there were people talking about the rumored "Methuselah" and the bounty on him. But he didn't see any signs or anything for it. No matter where he was, he would always hear or see something about it. He listened closely as he wandered around the decks, still hearing nothing of it. Maybe this was something he should worry about, after all. He couldn't know until he found some information about where he was. Which of course meant he'd have to actually ask, something he really didn't want to do until he had some time to put his thoughts together. He looked down at his hands, eyes widening for a moment when he realized he didn't have the violin either -- the violin that belonged to her, the only thing he had left of her, from all those years ago. He left it in that room! Why hadn't he been holding on to it?!
Machika... Of course. She had been asleep on him on the train, making it nearly impossible for him to hold on to it. Damn it. That was the deciding factor: he'd figure out where he was and if he ran into Machika again, he'd have to tell her to stop following him. There would be no saving her if she became entangled with his mess. But, then again... she was the first one to call his real name after so long. It tugged at his heart a bit as he fiddled with a communication device Rain found in his pocket. Technology like the things in Calvaria, huh? It'd be one way of finding things out for now.
First Person Sample:
-ow this thing works? [sound of buttons being ...well, smashed]
OH! There it goes! It says it's recording! This is a lot like technology in Raimei, if I remember right...
HELLO?
Can anyone hear me on this thing? I seem to have been removed from my train and I really need to get back there. Machika's going to be mad if she wakes up and I'm gone. If anyone can hear this, I'm a small room that feels like it's moving very strangely! Can someone help me please!
Preferred Quarters: Somewhere in all that fabulous luggage deck if there's room! If not, anywhere's fine.
