But he was in bad shape for awhile. If it wasn't for healing magic, he'd still be in critical condition. But for now, he's at home in his bed, sitting up straight. His chest was normally wrapped up in bandages to keep the wound protected, even though the internal damage had been healed through magic. Still, he had lost a significant amount of blood and really wasn't allowed up and about.
...And if nothing else, he had the best doctor he could ask for on staff at the house. In fact, she was in the midst of using Nala's power to help speed up the process again, before moving onto more conventional treatment.
He doesn't say anything yet, though he does make a relieved noise at Nala's healing energies going to work.]

Exhausted as she is, she's determined to do anything she can to help. The worst may be over, but there's still some ways to go. And that terrifies her. She came so close to losing him...
The spell losing power for a moment, she shakes her head and forces herself to concentrate again until the strain is too much. Then she settles back in her seat to rest for a moment. If only she could do more.]
...Does that feel any better?
Reply
[He looks over to her and she looks exhausted, frayed around the edges. A sympathetic look crosses his face.]
...Don't push yourself too much. You still need to rest too, you know.

[She can't sit still if there's any doubt in her mind, after all. Taking off her glasses - very carefully, so that she doesn't accidentally jolt the cracked left lens - she rubs her eyes to clear the grogginess. She can't afford to be tired now. She hasn't even gone to check in on Tsubaki yet.
Forcing a smile in a lame attempt to mask her worry, she goes for a gentle teasing tone.]
I'll be fine. I just need you to make sure you get better soon, hm?
Reply
I will. And I am alright. [And a gentle squeeze of her hand.] But I would rest better knowing that you're not running yourself ragged on my behalf.
Reply
...I'll try. [And here she ducks her head to try to keep her composure, her grip on his hand tightening just a bit. No sense in breaking down about this. The worst is over. Everything is fine.] I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't push it this much.
[But she's just so afraid of losing him that she can't really help herself.]

...Then do me a favor. Tonight, just... take it easy. Don't fret or worry too much. If you want to, come in here and read with me. As long as you can just take your mind off things for a little while, that's all I ask.
Reply
Okay. I promise. [The smile falters a bit.] You won't mind the company, will you? After all, you still need your rest...
[Because she makes so much noise when she's in here reading, right.]
Reply
You're really asking me if I'd mind your company.
Reply
I just don't want to be a bother. You know I'm happy for whatever time we can spend together.
[And here she gives his hand a light squeeze.] ...I just wish the circumstances were a little different this time.
Reply
[...Beats being dead.]
Reply
...You're right. I should just be glad we're both okay.
[Here, Dave. Have a soft kiss.] Thank you.
Reply
[He gives a gentle smile at the kiss. But he can't help but wonder something... and it's a question he's asked a fair few times since he regained consciousness.]
...How's Tsubaki doing?
Reply
[With a soft sigh, Litchi settles into her chair.]
She's been a little lonely, so I try to go by whenever I can.
Reply
[...And hearing that Tsubaki got hurt like that fills him with a quiet sort of anger. More anger than he had for himself getting hurt.
Still, he'll distract himself by asking the questions that he needed to ask.]
That thing that attacked us. ...It was like Nu, wasn't it? But different.
Reply
...Yes. Like Nu, but not quite the same. There have been thirteen of them, to my knowledge. Nu is one. Professor Kokonoe had the eleventh. And the twelfth... she was the one who attacked us.
