"Safe and sound," he says, with one of those demonic smiles come and go quickly, leaving only unease behind.

"I'm so glad you reconsidered my offer. I thought you would, given time... and time is one thing I can spare." There it is again--whoops, gone again.

If Bela is uneasy, she's not letting on. She's had a lot of experience with appearing calm and collected in the face of awful predicaments.

This hell is nothing compared to her nightmares.

"Time is a luxury," she replies. "I have to admit you are right; I've been intrigued by this option for a while. But you know how it is. Time gets away from you when you're as busy as I tend to be."

Bela has enough time left to make this interview a mutual one.

"We're all busy," he says smoothly. "So let's head down to the bullpen." He steps off the only visible surface, and strides purposefully into the darkness.

She strides along behind him without hesitation. The worse thing that can happen is that she'll die a horrible death on some other world where she will likely not end up in her version of hell.

"I like the dark and the quiet. It's soothing."

It's a little creepy, too. Her brain is a human one; it's not designed to input a lot of what's going on around her here. But she's not about to show any signs of discomfiture.
