Twenty-Fourth Strike - [Voice]

Jun 05, 2011 00:02

[Forward-dated to tomorrow afternoon.]

[Too many of her friends were gone - drafted. Too many. Too many people that she had strong emotions toward were fighting a new kind of battle. They were living dangerously, without any sort of luxuries, fighting to survive not just by day, but by night as well. It wasn't like the draft she could vaguely ( Read more... )

[It looks like someone is actually there, but this guest has been rather quiet since he entered the area of the forest. Repede was sitting nearby with his journal in his mouth. He's been restless since this entire draft started, so he's been wandering about, doing stuff Yuri told him to do like keeping a lookout for Estelle and Rita. Whatever keeps his mind off of things.]

[Presea definitely spots Repede easily, zeroing in on him with her hyper senses. However, she doesn't smile right off the bat, and still looks perplexed as she approached him slowly, her axe dragging along behind her. She can still "hear" someone else.]

...Hello, doggy. Are you alone?

[He lowers his head slightly, nodding. Well now he knows why during that experiment he was wondering why it felt like a long time since they hung together. Still...he didn't need that experiment to tell him how open he was to her.

He sits, letting her come up to him. He tilts his head, looking puzzled at her.]

[Smart dog, much like Noishe. Noishe could understand human language, just not speak. Giving one final glance around, she sees, hears, and feels no human presence. Just the familiar forest animals, Repede, and that unnamed one. It was fainter, more shy around the dog, but still there.

But is Repede couldn't feel it...was it just her? Was she hearing voices in her head? Presea furrows her brows together, rubbing Repede head thoughtfully.]

You cannot sense it. [More a statement than a question.]

[His ears twitch, glancing around.]

...[Then he looks back at Presea and makes a whining sound. No, he can't, but should he be concern?]

[Presea scratches Repede's ear gently to appease him, and tell him she's fine. She can still feel Faeren's presence, but just barely now. She seemed to be shying away from Repede entirely.]

It...it is a presence - a voice. Even now, it lingers. I think it is...afraid of you, doggy. I...do not know why I can hear it. [She really hopes she's not going crazy and hearing voices.] It...it told me earlier it is called Faeren.

[He quietly listens to her. Never heard anyone called Faeren before, but maybe it's a spirit the two-leggers talk about. Heck, sometimes when he's training he doesn't feel like he's alone either.

Looking thoughtful for a moment, he comes up with an idea. He takes a step back and then rolls onto his back with his belly showing. Not that he can hear or see Faeren, but maybe it'll understand he means it no harm.]

[Watching curiously, Presea tilts her head at the gesture. Ah...yes, that's right. Many species of animal do this as a submissive gesture to dominant males and females. She kneels down and runs her hands through the dirt and grass herself, mumbling that it was all right. Repede was a friend.

It was slow, creeping almost, but Presea felt the presence hover by her side, under her feet, and a little closer to Repede.]

She is...like me. Somewhat. Faeren's behavior is much like my own...in regards to individuals I am not familiar with. [Presea extends her arm, and rubs Repede's exposed belly.] But I expressed that you are not a threat. She will accept you, with time. ...You are a good doggy.

[He starts panting when Presea starts rubbing his belly. He turns his head, but he still can't really hear anything...ah well. Maybe one day he will like Presea said, but his only concern right now is to cheer her up. He rolls back onto his belly and wags his tail, looking up at her.]

Woof.

[Repede's presence, and the affectionate air he exudes, is enough to draw Presea's thoughts away from the draft for the moment. She always feels at ease more with animals than with people, and Repede was one of the animals in Luceti she was closest to. He was smart, and gentle, and seemed to understand her feelings, even when she was hiding them.

But he never did anything more than just be there. He couldn't say anything, but be there. Maybe that's why Presea liked him so much, and felt she could be open and honest. He wouldn't judge or tell anyone.]

...Good boy. [She rubs his head with her palm.] Do you mind...staying with me for some time? I...I would like it if you did. Please. You may leave when you see fit.

...[He closes his good eye, leaning into her touch.]

Hn. [It looks like he'll be staying here for a while. Not like he's in any hurry to go anywhere.]

Thank you...

[Presea takes a seat on the ground, Faeren's gentle presence allowing her a better feel for the earth around her, and for a bit of relaxation. Being in a forest was familiar to Presea, and she always felt most at ease with the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest around her. Plus, with her repetitively stroking Repede's head and back, it really took away much of her anxiety about the draft and the people drafted. This was...really nice.

She closes her eyes after a few minutes, upping her hearing, and lets the sounds wash over her.]
