As you may or may not be aware, I single-handedly saved Friendster. Browsing it for the past few days has been constantly shocking. First, I accidentally found myself on Pat the Bunny's profile. He's a guy who, under a few aliases (Johnny Hobo, Wingnut Dishwashers Union), makes a bunch of music that I really dug on for most of the summer. In 2004, he had 18 friendsters, and I know about four of them in real life, including 2/3 of the ones to comment on his page. Under his favorite bands, he lists a bunch of guys who live up the hill from me. Creepy.
Prompted by the surreal nature of that, I've been searching for celebrities that would have been nobody in 2004.
- I am connected to Ezra Buchla through the same people that know Pat the Bunny. How the hell does that make sense?
- Yoni Wolf, of the band Why?, lists lyrics (circa 2004) to a song that popped up on a record in 2009. Knowing him, it might have been used in one of his other horrible bands before then, but it still caught me off guard.
