Jennifer had run all the way back to her room, not stopping until she could shut and lock her door behind her. She stopped then, trying not to think of the events of the day.

Ellie thought it would a good to take Vishuddha next door to meet Jen, having no idea what her friend had been through or if she would be in the mood for visitors.

"Jen?" she called, knocking on the door.

Jen wasn't about to open that door for just anyone. With effort, she got to her feet, and cracked the door open. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying, but she peered out.

"Ellie?" she said, still not opening the door all the way.

Ellie noticed the puffy eyes right away, her concern evident. "Jen, what happened? What's wrong?"

Jennifer wanted to open the door, but paused. "I know this is going to sound crazy," she said. "But show me your teeth first."

"What?" Yeah, that was a little weird, but given that she knew strangeness was afoot this weekend, she did what Jen asked. "See?"

Jennifer opened the door and practically threw herself into trying to hug her friend.

"I'm just glad you're you," she said.

At this point Vishuddha was sniffing around them curiously. Ellie glanced down at him. "This is Vishuddha. He can stay here with you tonight if it will make you feel a little better."

"Vis..." Jennifer let go to look down. "Since when... where did he come from?"

She was going to take the opportunity to just concentrate on something that wasn't what had happened earlier.

"Raven gave him to me. She rescued them," Ellie explained. "He's very friendly."

"Them?" Jennifer asked, reaching down to pet him. "There's more than one?"

Focus on the curiosity, she told herself. The dog. What Raven did. Just keep focus.

"Yeah, there were about six of them," Ellie told her. "She was able to calm them."

"Where was she that she had to calm six dogs in the first place?" Jennifer asked, taking a few deep breaths. "Walking in the woods with raw steak tied to her?"

"I'm not sure where she found them," Ellie replied, glancing at Jen worriedly. "Want me to stay here tonight?"

"I'd like that," Jennifer said. "I've got the spare bed and everything. And there's plenty of room for Vishy, here."

She wasn't ready to talk about it. She wasn't sure she'd ever be ready to talk about it.
