Kitchen of the Captain Lord Mansion, Late late Tuesday Night

Aug 25, 2009 19:09

The B&B was... interesting. And quaint.

And made Tony think of--had he known his grandmother--her house. With worse taste. The wallpaper alone was enough to keep him awake all night in horror.

That was probably why he was drinking coffee in the kitchen then. Probably.

Steve padded into the kitchen, said, "Hey," then realized that, wait, this was not the mansion and Tony didn't have a lab within miles. "What're you doing up?" Without waiting for an answer, he headed for the fridge. Nightmares required chocolate. This was fact, as far as he was concerned.

Ice. Nathan needed ice. Or perhaps whiskey. Whiskey on ice? No, that was a waste of whiskey, letting it get watered down.

He paused in the doorway of the kitchen, raising an eyebrow faintly as he took in the pair already present.

"Bad night for sleep, tonight."

Tyler had been out on the porch watching the stars. He was surprised in a way that wasn't surprised at all when he came back in for water.

"... all of us?"

"All of us," Tony confirmed, hording the massive cup of coffee. "The wallpaper is a problem."

"...yes," Steve said. "That's it. The wallpaper."

"That's absolutely the reason I'm here, too," Nathan lied. Because he was just that kind of man. "The wallpaper. Too... loud."

Tyler hadn't even noticed the wallpaper, but he obediently turned about to drink it in. "God, the designer must have been drunk."

"I was thinking on acid, but that works as well," Tony replied. "Is there anything to eat?"

"Not made," Steve said. "There's some fruit." Fruit was not going to be sufficient. "Hang on." He opened and closed a few cabinets, then said, "There's enough here to make brownies..."

"You're suggesting we bake something?"

For all that Nathan was the original manly man when it came to gutting fish, time spent figuring out his way around brownie batter was somewhat... lacking.

"It's like chemistry you get to eat," Tyler decided. "I'm for it."

"As long as I'm not asked to do anything." Hey, you saw what he did to his microwave as a child, damn it.

Steve half-smiled. "If you're lucky I'd let you stir. That's about it."

Nathan considered for a moment longer, and then shrugged. It sounded productive. He could probably do without alcohol so long as he was keeping occupied. Very well.

"So, what do we need, then?"

Tyler hesitated, deferring to Steve. "Flour," he said. "Eggs, chocolate, butter, sugar..."

Tony just sipped his coffee. "Can we add Kahlua?"

...don't judge.
