My first pair of socks turned out fairly decent, so it has gone onto the Mitten, Hat & Sock Tree at the church. I started another pair using the same pattern (out of a 'knitting for children' book, so pretty basic/simple) but realized halfway through the first sock that I didn't have enough of that yarn for a pair, so I 'frogged' and started alternating rounds with a different yarn -- it looks ... oddly tasty....like peppermint stick ice cream. Hoping to finish for next week, when the Tree is supposed to be un-decked and the various winter-wear items delivered to cold grade school children. Considering the PW's record for (un) timely distribution in past years, I reckon there might be a few days of leeway....
The third pair is a self-striping yarn using a pattern from "Knits for Nerds", which has gone fairly quickly, especially after I realized that I was over-thinking the instructions -- may be done in time for the tree; if not, I will give them to whomever they fit.
Did not get to spend last Saturday with Elder Sister -- apparently sometime earlier in the month, she tripped or stepped wrong or something, and cracked a bone in one of her feet -- a 'stress' fracture, according to the ER doctor. So Elder Sister's limited mobility was even more limited, and it was especially painful Saturday morning when she called me (I was almost ready to walk out the door) to cancel.... since the day's planned activities had centered on hitting up bookstores in malls, she figured she probably wasn't up to the walking around.
Sigh.
C'est la Vie.....
