So hard to swallow

I’d be damned if I was gonna’ sit there an’ listen to Spike when I had my agenda on me. I never needed the vamp before (except to talk to and a cigarette now an’ then) damn well didn’t need him now. Especially since for some reason, he was on a power trip…just because B’ wasn’t with him. Christ, I had forgotten how annoyin’ everythin’ was when ( Read more... )

"Well there is no way that I'm gonna go back to the hotel an' sit there while B patches up Angel. I know you wouldn't want to watch that either."

Slaya had a point there. Just hearing that made me want to step into the fire and take them all of, in spite of what I had just said. Couldn't believe that after she told me that she loved me, and after a year, she was staying with Captain forehead at the hotel. Wondered if she was just mad because I had taken her blood, but if that were true, wouldn't she be just as knickers-in-a-twisted because he had tastd Faith's neck?

Fact of the matter was, it was always kick to Spike with her, and I would love the bird until the day she was gone and I was still devilishly handsome and athletic, but I had to face the history here. It was always Angel for her.

"It's not like we have much a choice here, Spike. Looks like we're gonna go back and see how the two long lost are doin'."

Now, I didn't want to do that. But, from a tactical standpoint, four of us, two capable vampires, well, one capable vampire and one with a lot of hair gel and two vampire slayas would do pretty well out here. And, if Angel still couldn't fight, and got killed out here, then he would be out of the way and Buffy would look to me for support.

Guess that happening wouldn't help the world, though, and Angel was a big, giant, broody pain in the cheeks, but he wasn't better off dead.

"By the way... who the fuck was that that rammed those demons with the SUV?"

"Didn't see, Faith. Windows were darkened. Kinda like I would do to my car. Believe me, looked too, but didn't see anything. Couldn't tell you if it was a woman, a man or an alien."

We headed back towards the hotel-de-broodyboy.
