Holding our own before a break in.

Cordy and I had seen the strange couple, well, in the words of Xander, the father and son duo, back at Wolfram and Hart and had decided to follow them to their dwellings, knowing, well virtually one-hundred percent, knowing, that they were both linked to Giles ( Read more... )

I loved Cordy's new mindset, but it didn't change her at the core. At the core, she still cared about what she cared about as deeply as ever and as I waited in te hall, hopeful that they weren't going to be spending the night in that room, slayer and watcher, I too found myself letting my thoughts drift back to my girls, to my sirens, and even wondered if that would be able to last.

I knew that Esmerelda was dedicated tome, but Lillian, I felt, only did what she did in order to please Esmerelda, and I doubted if she took any real pleasure in our arrangement, no matter how hard I gave it to her, or how hard that I tried to make them see the bliss of their current situation.

Lost in a reverie, I let myself drift back to the present. "If we have to wait all night to get into that room, then we will. If we have to dodge security and drink stale coffee to get into that room, then that's what we do, because then and only then, will we be able to prove that their are foxes in the henhouse and then and only then, will we be able to go back to the firm and try to dig Lindsey, the baffoon, out of his mess."

I was almost willing to let Cordy drive back and handle things with him by herself, but solo didn't work for Lindsey and I wasn't about to let Cordy go off ad get herself caught and made for what she now was.

I cocked my head and raised a brow at Wesley. He was all into his little thought process, which I'm sure was about his sirens. But then he started to talk and he was going on about foxes and henhouses and baffoons, and since when do we go to the zoo?

"Wesley, I hate to interrupt your little rantfest, but uhm, you were definately pulling a Noah's Ark with all of those animals." I let out a small smile before clearing my throat.

"What if we accidentally pull the fire alarm? And then they'd have to accidentally leave the building and we'd have to accidentally sneak into their room? It would expedite this whole process."

I crossed my arms over my chest again. All I wanted to do was to get out of this rundown nasty old hotel and back into Wolfram and Hart. Sheesh. It occurred to me how odd that thought was, but hey, get over it. It was true.

That was an interesting suggestion, about pulling the fire alarms, and her comment about Noah's ark brought an indelible smile onto my face.

Leave it to Cordy to bring a smile to my face even in the midst of redundant anger and unmanageable irritation.

I thought briefly about the suggestion about getting them out of the room with the fire alarms.

"It could work, the fire alarms, Cordy, but if this man is a watcher, and the girl is a slayer, then they will think about the possibilities and it may actually work against us, especially if they have something in their room, which they want to protect. t could get them out of the room, but if he is a watcher, then he will suspect something and it may actually work against us.."

I had a pistol, but didn't really want to start plugging slayers just yet, even if she, if they were both infiltrators to Wolfram and Hart.

In a matter of speaking, so were we and their presences around Angel might be exactly what we want. Even if they were enemies of us, more so then Angel, even though, now, they didn't know that.

"Okay. So in short terms, we're not pulling any fire alarms. That's all you had to say. I didn't need the whole explanation to accompany it."

I closed my eyes and rested my head against the wall.

"Did you catch what room number they were in? Or was that little escape they made a waste?" I raised a brow at him without even opening my eyes. I had perfected the annoyed tone and therefore, didn't need the looks to accompany it.

But still, the raised brow was always a very nice touch to go with it.

"Do you think Angel will notice our little escape?"
