"Well, that was horrible," he croaks out as they get to their room. Trism had originally brought him to the infirmary, but he'd had enough of sick beds and enough of medical things that he'd merely made use of the sink to rinse out his mouth and demanded he be brought to the room. Trism hadn't liked it, but eventually he'd folded since Liir would ( Read more... )

"Yes, it was, rather."

He starts the water running in the tub and helps to peel Liir out of his clothes and wipe off a bit. Once he's clean, he pulls Liir to him close and tight.

He snorts again, letting his nose dip into Trism's shoulder.

"I'm not made of glass, Trism. Id've shattered long before now, you know."

"You were shattered before and you've only just healed from it, Liir."

He strokes Liir's hair back and presses a kiss to his temple.

"Should I get you some coffee?"

"Long enough," he mutters. "And stop treating me like--"

He doesn't know what Trism's treating him like, because he's never been treated like much of anything but a bother, a convenience, a burden, another number. Except...

It's almost like how Candle had treated him and that's just...that just makes it hurt worse, the fact that she's not there with them and he doesn't even know if the two of them got along, whatever Trism says, but he wants her too.

He growls at Trism.

"He didn't hit that hard."

Oh, he'll ache for days, but he has his pride.

"Like a lover?"

He raises an eyebrow and guides Liir to the tub.

"Good. I'd've had to induce the vomiting anyway."

He doesn't say out loud that Liir shouldn't have been drinking. He's a grown man, after all. But he doesn't like it all the same.

"I thought you said that your old circle didn't do things like this. It seemed very much as if it was just supposed to be about... about bodies."

He looks to Trism even as he's guided into the tub, careful and unsure of anything he's saying, unsure of everything but Trism.

"And you wouldn't have. I'd have vomited soon enough anyway."

He quirks his head at Liir.

"Is that all you want us to be?"

He hands Liir a flannel, strips off to the waist, and then begins cleaning Liir's soiled shirt in the sink.

"No, and you're more than an idiot if you think so. I was just saying," he grumbles, "it's not like you've been here before either."

Here. In a relationship like this.

"I was going to tell you about football tonight."

"No, I haven't, but I know what I like."

He wrings out the shirt and hangs it and spot-cleans the trousers.

"So, tell me about football."

"Someone here's making teams," he says slowly, his stomach just starting to ache from the punch. "For play. I said we were in."

He looks to Trism.

"I'm not bad. You're good as well. Something to do, right?"

He gives Liir a soft smile and hangs up his damp trousers before stripping off his own and sliding into the tub behind Liir.

"Sounds brilliant. Been too long since I played football."

He curls up a little, because it's starting to hurt but he'll heal soon enough. He always does. Then he tips his head back and looks at Trism.

"You are going to have to learn to deal with having nothing to do, though. It's really not a horrible thing."

"I'll find something to occupy my time."

He kisses Liir's lips and gently massages his chest and belly.

"Ow."

It aches even as it soothes and he rolls his eyes at Trism.

"I've had much worse, you know. Before and after that grand fall from the sky. Even you roughed me up worse, boy o."

"I'm sure you have."

But that was Trism, and Liir is his.

He squeezes him gently and kisses his cheek.

"You'll have to introduce me to this football captain."

He nods.

"Right."

A moment's pause.

"You'd better not suggest a riding trip tomorrow. I'll hit you. I will."
