033 - [Accidental Audio Post//Action] Alive

Jun 01, 2008 18:44

[The sound of a heart monitor can be heard beeping rhythmically in the background, soft breathing.]

Mmn.

[The rustle of sheets and papery hospital clothes. A soft, warm voice.]

Hey.

[ooc: backdated to this morning, the action is open to anyone who wants to visit. She's not actually injured any more, just a little dizzy from blood loss and ( Read more... )

[Knock knock, and Hawkeye pokes her head in around the door.]

George?

[Puts the laptop to the side and gives an encouraging smile. She's not really an invalid, despite how fragile everyone is treating her.]

Hey, Riza, come on in.

[It's not the first time she's visited friends in the hospital, and probably won't be the last, but Hawkeye's familiar with the setting, at least, and gives a smile back.]

How are you doing?

[It's not George's first time in a hospital either, but that doesn't mean she's any fonder of it.]

Pretty well, actually, all things considered.

That's good. The curses don't usually leave terribly lasting damage, as nasty as that one was.

The damage is more emotional than physical, in any case.

[Sigh, rueful smile.]

I know how that goes.

[small sigh of her own.]

Sorry I couldn't make it out to be of any help.

[Hand reflexively goes to her stomach, where the little scar that caused so much problem is.]

It happened too fast. I was lucky to survive that gunshot the first time it happened, let alone combined with all the rest.

[Wry smile. Hawkeye knew precisely what bullet wounds did to people; she was the one who did the shooting, usually. Gunshot wounds to the stomach were painful and usually lethal, but not always.]

I bet. Not the kindest curse we've had in a while.

[It happens, in this kind of work. People who are afraid of pain don't get very far.]

I wonder if they have a ratio system for deciding good vs bad curses, or if they just choose on a whim.

I wonder. I think I'll be content with not knowing, going back through the records to make a list of how they've been distributed gives me a headache just thinking about it.

I don't think I'd wish that job on anyone. Best just to move on.

[Laugh] Not going to name names.

By the way, the warden elections are coming up.
