"That was all for today," Sheila said. "See you next week." Kaidan reached over and ended the call himself, then got up and opened up the door to his office. It was now exactly 0900, and he assumed that was roughly the kind of time he could start to expect parents knocking on his door--

He frowned. Was Sheila trying to phone him back for something? He thought they'd had all of this settled. He swiped his hand over the tool and...
Came face to face with his own parents.
"We wanted to call you yesterday to wish you a happy birthday," his mother said, "But the Alliance had some trouble patching us through. So--"
Kaidan really hoped that whatever parents walked in today did not do so while his mother was singing Happy Birthday to him.
