Okay, Kaidan'd be lying if he said he hadn't been tense lately. The promotion, the job waiting for him that he was increasingly sure he was going to take, and, y'know, the part where Shepard just went in through a dangerous relay-- yeah. He was a little jittery.
So he was grateful when he finally got the call on Thursday night-- even if it meant knocking over his datapad and having to spend some time scrambling to make sure it wasn't broken and re-establishing the connection and... anyway.
"Major? We received our first sightings of the Normandy 24 hours ago. They are now confirmed. It has docked on Omega station. Preliminary reports state that the crew count is the same as it was when it last departed. Everyone appears to be alive."
"Okay," Kaidan said, and felt the rock in his stomach evaporate. "Okay, good. What's IF planning to do about--"
"Current orders are to arrest Commander Shepard on sight," the Lieutenant on the other end told him. "But he remains outside of Alliance space for the time being."
So they couldn't do anything. "Thank you for letting me know, Lieutenant," Kaidan said. "And, uh... pass on my regards to Admiral Hackett."
"I will."
Kaidan sagged back against the couch with a relieved sigh.
