It's been years since he's been to an aquarium and he'd forgotten how just how large they are. Jack looked up into the top archway of a tank that seems to envelop the visitors rather than the sea life. Walls curved sideways and overhead and fish of all types swam alongside turtles and eels as if no one had bothered to tell them that they were different.
As the large brown form of a nurse shark swam from left to right inches away from the glass, a small hand reached up and caught Jack's index and middle finger.
"Can we leave this one?" Aaron asked quietly. "I don't like the sharks."
"Sure thing, buddy," Jack answered his nephew, turning toward him. "What do you want to see next?"
Aaron tapped his chin with his free hand, a habit he had undoubtedly picked up from Jack. After apparent internal deliberation he clearly declared "otters" with a firm nod.
Leading him by the hand, Jack began to weave his way out of the deep sea floor and toward the steps that would lead to the upper level that housed the otters. "Maybe after that, we can see the dolphins. I know someone who used to have her own."
Aaron stopped in his tracks, eyes wide. "Really?"
"Really."
