HOLY FUCKING HELL.
So as I mentioned on Twitter, I got to fucking be a part of Mika's gig!! It was amazing. Such an experience. IDGAF that we didn't get paid, damn just being able to be on the same damned stage with him and perform with and for him was out of this fucking world!
First off, I have to say, Mika has to be the best damned live act I've been to so far. Honestly, I know Muse was awesome, hell they were pretty out there as well, but IDK, Mika just performed more. He was high energy and bouncing around stage, and yet not once was he off key or breathless. He was adorable and so fucking good and hot and just WOW. His band kept up with him perfectly. They know how to play the crowd, they were just as energetic, and playful and just so fucking amazing.
Anyway! To the point of this post!
I got there at about 3 pm, so we queued. At around 6 a lady came out of the venue to the queue and said she needed 4 'big' girls and a couple of boys. Being Singapore, there were hardly any 'big' girls so I volunteered. She considered it for a bit, then said I was still not big enough for their tastes. And then she started asking for boy volunteers. Me and another girl both volunteered to be boys just for fun. She laughed a little and said she'd consider then she went further down the row. Then she came back with a few 'big' girls and called me and the girl to come with her.
Fuck. I was fucking shocked. We bounced eagerly after her and she brought us in and then we were brought backstage. Then she briefed us on what we had to do. We basically had to do a sort of funeral march/procession, then we had to change and start dancing on stage.
We got changed into our costumes, my first was all black, and we had to carry a huge stuffed doll out onto stage and onto a bunch of steps. Then we had to change into these gorgeous colourful poncho things and bright coloured pants and rubber animal masks.
So that was the basic rundown of what we were supposed to do. They let us back out into the audience to watch the show and DAMN Mika and his band are fuckign amazing. Kick-Ass was a knock out anthem. The entire crowd was jumping and pumping our fists along and singing and screaming and that had to be my favourite out of the entire setlist!
Then we went back in, got changed and got ready for the 'funeral procession' of Toy Boy. I was carrying the head of Toy Boy and so when I went up the steps the first and Mika was freaking right there, watching me. I felt so self-conscious but I was so excited and OMGOMGOMG.
Then we went off and changed and then they gave us the rubber masks, which were more heads really, and I got a horse mask. Jesus the snout of the thing was pretty long and I could only see and breathe through its mouth and nose. Dear lord. But we got pumped up anyway and it was hilarious coz I could barely see anything or even breathe, so I just danced like a mad man. They told us to keep dancing becuase Mika would be sad if we stopped. So I basically went crazy on stage. I wiggled at the back up singer and she LOL-ed at me then wiggled back. Then I knocked into the bassist coz I couldn't see a damned thing. And then Mika was in front, next to me and he is so fucking tall and thin. DAMN.
Then we were done and left the stage, tossed off the heads, and then the band asked us all back on to the stage because they wanted to dance LOL. So we went back up I had a damned stitch in my side and then we were dancing around like crazy again.
It was amazing crazy fun.
We got autographs for our work, but we never really got to see Mika in person, though I was right next to him when I was running around back stage at one point and he just looked amused.
He played an extre five songs and the backstage crew said he must've been really happy.
We lingered after it ended, and he came out to sign autographs in person and he was just so sweet and amazing. The security didn't allow us to take any pictures at first, and then he said we could take photos as we wanted, but he just didn't have time to take photos individually.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Just so damned awesome. I got to be ont eh same damn stage, perform with him.
I'm kinda dead tired now, hence all the typos and general incoherence, so forgive me!!
