OMG IT IS SO HARD TO STAY AWAKE FOR THE MATCH....
I have done my work. More or less. And I'm prob gonna stay up and try and watch the match, or at least follow it on BBC Sport or something and of course ontd_football.
So anyway! I was looking through teh fics I'm supposed to be writing, and I realized I just had a bit of this chapter of Hunter Hunted to go before this chapter's done!
So I did it, and the end of this chapter is kinda disjointed, and emotional.
IDK if it workd for you, but I don't think I could have written it any other way.
Title: Hunter Hunted
Pairing: Cesc Fabregas/ Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos/Fernando Torres, David Beckham/Iker Casillas, Robin van Persie/Daniel Agger/Nicklas Bendtner.
Rating: NC-17 at most.
Warning: WIP. This chapter has a death in it. I cried trying to write it >_<
Summary: Picks up almost immediately after where Hunter left off. Only a few days have elapsed. Cesc and Cris are settling down, enjoying each other very much and finally having peace back in their lives. But not all is well, as the future seems to show. But then again, Cesc has seen too many times in Heroes that the future isn’t necessarily cast in stone.
Cesc sighed heavily as he entered his home and the five heads around the coffee table looked up at him in concern. Cris was on his feet first and in front of Cesc just as he was toeing his shoes off. Cris reached out and gently brushed a hand over Cesc’s chilled skin- yes, he was much more adaptable to temperatures as compared to normal humans, but his skin did get cold just as normal humans did- and he gently wrapped his hand around Cesc’s elbow, giving Cesc time and space to move away should he want to.
Cesc felt his heart shudder at the warmth that emanated from the one hand around his arm and he felt the load that was pressing down on his shoulders ease just that little bit. He sniffed once and Cris immediately raised his other arm and pulled Cesc into his chest, wrapping himself protectively around his younger mate. He felt Cesc tremble slightly and he held him even tighter.
Cesc squeezed his eyes shut and listen to the steady beating of their synchronized heartbeats. He’d taken a slow walk home, trying to figure out how to tell all five of them and Cris hugging him like that made him just want to start crying all over again. How did they get into such a huge damned mess?
Cesc pulled away slowly- and reluctantly he realized- and leaned up, kissing his rather pleasantly surprised mate softly. “I have to talk to all of you.”
Cesc kept their hands and fingers interlaced and he pulled Cris back to the living-room where Iker looked as if he was going to be sick with worry. Cesc broke into a grin at the frown lines on Iker’s forehead and let go of Cris’s hand to kneel in front of his older friend, hugging the man tightly. “I’m sorry you had to worry. I’m sorry I yelled at you. Love you, Iker. And stop frowning, or else you’ll really become an old man.”
Iker just hugged him back with equal intensity and smiled when Cesc kissed his forehead. “I wish I could take this all away for you.” Iker mumbled, stroking Cesc’s cheek gently.
“None of this is your fault Iker.” Cesc returned the gesture and both fell silent briefly. “I need to talk to all of you. This whole Seer thing isn’t the only thing going on. Uhh, it looks like lots of other stuff is going on which involves all of us.”
“What? How much could be happening in this fucking world at one time?” Sergio groused as Cesc shifted to sit next to Iker and Cris sat next to him on the armrest, their hands meeting each other in the middle.
“I... bumped into a bunch of Wolves at the park. They had some information. Apparently there’s an Alpha wolf who’s working with a Vampire on experiments to create Hybrids and they think me and Cris are the ‘keys’ to creating a stable Hybrid. Something about the human blood being able to support the Wolf blood. They’re uhm. I don’t know. They said they’d have more information by tonight. I’m going to go meet them again.”
“What?! Cesc what if it’s a trap?! What if they’re the Wolves behind the whole operation?” Iker was the first to get his protests in order, Fernando and Sergio sharing the same sentiments.
Cesc just shrugged. “They smelled alright.”
The four humans just blinked.
“Vampires on general can ‘smell’ a lie. There’s a spike in adrenaline in the blood and we can ‘smell’ it.” Cris explained, as Cesc seemed to zone out again.
“I’m going with you.” Cris stated, his tone indicated he wasn’t going to accept any objection.
“We’re coming too.” Fernando nodded along with Sergio.
“Likewise.” Beckham said, vouching for both him and Iker.
Cesc retreated to their bedroom once the plans had been settled and Iker and David left to collect some supplies just in case and Nando and Sergio allowed them their alone time. He felt Cris behind him and heard the door shut. Warm hands gripped his shoulders briefly before he was pulled back into a warm, safe, comforting hug.
“Shhh. We’ll be alright.” Cris whispered softly as Cesc crumpled back against him.
“I don’t know Cris. What if I really kill someone? I feel it. I want it. I wanted to hunt them down for hurting you. Who’s to say I won’t stop myself the next time they try something. The only reason why I didn’t go after them was because of you. Had I known you’d be okay, I think I would have gone after them.” Cesc muttered, squeezing his eyes shut as the emotions from last night came rushing back. It was as if he was back there, he could almost smell the Hunters again, the spike in adrenaline at having gotten two good shots in. They weren’t terribly far away, he could tell they were in one of the flats surrounding them. It would have taken him less than a minute to figure out where exactly they were and get to them before they could get away. It was only the knowledge that Cris was badly hurt that made him run for cover.
“Oh Cesc.” Cris breathed into his mate’s hair. He could feel the echo of what Cesc felt, the roiling anger and bloodlust and the confusion and fear that got all mixed up. Cesc made a soft noise between a whine and a growl, before turning to face Cris. The smaller vampire tucked his smaller form against Cris and sighed tiredly, pressing his face into Cris’ neck and hiding there. Cris held him as tightly as he could, mouthing words of comfort and strength against his lover’s temple. He didn’t care what Fate wanted. There was no way in hell he was going to let go his mate that easily.
None of them spoke as they approached the agreed meeting spot. Cesc led them, his hand stuck in his jacket pockets, with Cris just off of him, close enough to occasionally brush against Cesc. Sergio and Nando followed just behind them and Iker and Beckham trailed behind them, pretending not to be part of their group, to keep watch of the surroundings. It was quiet, the park had emptied long ago with the exception of a few homeless and maybe a few druggies. The corner they chose was pretty much out of the way of any wandering soul.
Cesc stepped off the walkway and headed across the grass patch towards the line of trees, heading to the little alcove where he’d spoken to the Wolves. Cris looked over at Cesc once he caught the scent of canine along the tree line and Cesc smiled slightly and nodded, he’d recognized the scent. This time all three of them were more human than canine, which would be interesting. Iker and Beckham jogged to catch up with them once they felt satisfied. Everything had looked normal and quiet. Almost too quiet, but they were in the company of Wolves, and creatures that made noises tended to keep quiet when they were in the company of predators.
Cesc smiled and waved as he entered the alcove of trees and Danny appeared out of the shadows of the dense trees. Robin was next to appear and he was followed immediately by a tall, blond boy who Cesc could only guess as Nicky. The blond had the decency to smile sheepishly at Cesc, he clearly remembered how he reacted in his wolf-dog form.
“I’m sorry I’m kinda wild still in my dog form. I really didn’t mean to do that.” Nicky apologized, blushing as he held out hand to Cesc.
“It’s fine, you make a cute dog anyway.” Cesc smiled slightly. He grinned though when he felt a twinge of jealousy from Cris who was standing just a little behind him. “I’d like everyone here to meet everyone. This is Cris, my mate. My friends, Sergio, Fernando, Iker and David. And this is Danny, Robin and Nicky.” Cesc introduced the two parties, indicating each person to the other side. The hunter half were stiff in anticipation and the three Wolves just looked confused.
Cesc rolled his eyes at his four friends and turned to look at Danny. “So, did you find anything more?”
“Not so much that we can make anything out of it. We couldn’t find out where their ‘base’ is and we still can’t figure out who the Wolves are working with. All we know is that their pretty sure about what they want now, and that’s either you or Cris. And they’re probably gonna do it soon.”
“Well, that’s a load of good information.” Sergio snorted, shaking his head slightly.
“Hey it’s not easy to go sneaking around a bunch of Wolves that could smell you from a mile away.” Nicky almost immediately retorted and Cesc, Danny, Robin and Cris all simultaneously rolled their eyes.
“Calm down, both of you. We’re all in this together alright? Nothing is anyone’s fault. And we all know we’re trying to work this out.” Robin commanded gently, trying to pacify both hotheads. When Sergio snorted again, Nando just smacked him. “Right. We have to figure out a way to either get more info, or get the both of you out of here.”
“Urgh, not another Iker! Leaving can’t be the only answer!” Sergio grumbled, and all of them turned to Iker, expecting him to say something in his defense. But he was looking around the trees, distracted by something or other.
“Iker? What’s wrong?” Cesc asked his older friend. He himself could sense nothing wrong.
“It just doesn’t feel right. It’s just... too quiet still.”
Everyone fell silent. Iker was right. None of the Wolves were in their hunting forms and were no longer danger to the creatures that hid in the forest. And yet everything was still eerily silent. There wasn’t even a single gust of wind and there was absolutely nothing moving anywhere near them. Everyone tensed slightly, ready to attack or fend of anything, should the need arise.
For a whole minute, no one moved, all of them listening hard. And just as Nicky started to relax a little, Cesc felt the hair on the back of his neck stand. “Nicky down!”
The blond amazingly responded immediately to Cesc’s command and there was a zing through the air and an crossbow bolt was embedded in the tree trunk next to the huge Wolf, missing the blond by a few inches.
And then all hell broke loose.
Cesc tackled Iker and Beckham to the ground, Cris did the same with Fernando and Sergio and the Wolves disappeared into the trees as more bolts and bullets dissected their alcove. Then suddenly there were screams in the forest followed by a wolf howl and a group of Hunters appeared from the shadows of the trees, chased out by three large, bipedal Wolves.
The Weres in their pure form standing on their two hind legs were about a head taller than Nando and a were broad depending on the Were. The three present were all relatively lean, but taller than the average Were. Cesc recognized the copper Were as Nicky, the black and white Were as Robin and he figured the all white were was Danny. The Hunters fired at them, but all three were agile, falling to their four paws and darting out of harm’s way, back into the dense protection of the trees.
Cesc counted about ten Hunters, all of them carrying crossbows and an arsenal of weaponry. With the Weres out of the way, the Hunter turned their attention to Cesc and Cris, aiming their crossbows at the both of them. But clearly they were disillusioned about how fast the both of them really were.
Cesc caught the barrels of two Hunters standing next to each other, feeling the sturdy metal collapse in his grasp before wrenching the crossbows out of their hands and tossing them away. Together both him and Cris got rid of most of the long range weapons off the Hunters before backing off of them.
“Please, this doesn’t have to happen.” Cesc pleaded, as he stood across from the wary Hunters, some of them drawing blades of varying lengths, others pulling out guns. Cesc stood with Cris who stood down, trying to show he wasn’t going to hurt them. Sergio, Nando, Iker and David all came to stand by the both of them. Now that Cesc actually got a chance to look at them, he vaguely recognized some faces of the Hunters. Some of them he’d worked with before.
“It doesn’t have to come to this!”
“We’re sorry kid, but orders are orders. It’s either we kill you or we get killed. We know you haven’t done anything just yet, but can you honestly tell us, that you could never, ever snap? That you’re not a vampire in the slightest?”
Cesc flinched slightly at that and sighed. He couldn’t say yes. He’d felt the brief flash of bloodlust, and if he wasn’t careful, he might lose himself in it.
With the lack of response from Cesc, the Hunters advanced, and Cesc wanted to just run away. But they were engaged in hand to hand before Cesc could turn away and he couldn’t leave Sergio, Nando and Iker behind.
They fought to disarm and merely knock the hunters unconscious. Cesc could deal with his two opponents easily, one of them managing to just nick his side, which healed over rapidly. He’d jabbed his elbow into his remaining opponent’s sternum when he felt the phantom seizing of his nerves, as if he’d had a mild zap of electricity. He snapped around and growled when he saw Cris on the ground, body jerking occasionally, wires connecting him to a high powered taser a Hunter was holding.
He felt himself running, he felt himself slam hard into the Hunter, literally flinging himself at the man and throwing them both to the ground. He felt a deep seated satisfaction at the man’s scream of pain and the wet snap of bone when they slammed into the ground, the man’s ribs caught under Cesc’s shoulder. He relished the thrill of hearing the cracking of bones and the wet slap of his bloodied knuckles as he pummelled the man’s face, neck and chest. He lost all sense of anything else except for the warm red of blood, the smell of copper so thick in the air he could almost taste the sweetness on his lips. His throat felt dry and there seemed to be a black pit in his stomach, demanding more bloodshed and more death and more vengeance. He closed a hand around the man’s trembling throat, and grinned as he dug his nails in, literally hearing the man’s breathing stick, hearing his throat muscles tremble and tense in an attempt to fight him off.
He’d dared to hurt Cris, he’d tried not only to end his mate’s life, but inadvertently his own life as well, and he could smell the fear and desperation rolling off the hunter and he suddenly felt alive. The hands pulling at his arms and chest were like flies, annoying but simply a nuisance. They could do nothing to dissipate the anger and hatred he felt towards the man, they could do nothing to stop him. He could feel the man’s life ebbing away fast, his heartbeat deliciously slow and weak and it only served to continue to feed the starving creature in him.
The hands were nothing but there was suddenly a clawed paw wrapped around his waist and chest, gouging into his side and lifting him off the lucky man. Humans could do nothing to stop his rampage, but even as he fought the Were, his strength was nowhere near its strength.
And slowly Cesc’s tunnelled vision cleared, panting harshly. He gradually relaxed in the white Were’s grasp, slumping as he started to realize what he’d done. The Hunter wasn’t dead, not quite, but the ugly bruise and nail marks on his neck along with shattered bones were more than enough damage. Cesc was painfully aware of the blood on his hands, and the closing wounds on his knuckles stung as his tears fell on them.
He looked up, and felt a stab in his heart when Beckham, Sergio and Nando shifted backwards slightly.
The paw holding him back shrunk back into a human arm and he felt Danny held him gently as it all started to sink in. They were right, he’d practically killed someone, with his bare hands no less. He pleaded for it all to be just a nightmare, but seeing his lover struggling to get up from being heavily electrocuted made the bloodlust rear its ugly head again and Cesc was terrified.
There were just so many thoughts rushing through his mind, all he could do was clutch at his head, willing all the conflicting emotions, thoughts and instincts to just go away. Cesc was vaguely aware of whimpering and sobbing, and it was only when Iker wrapped his arms around him and held him tight did he realize he was crying and shuddering.
Iker swallowed hard and stamped down his natural instinct to run. Cesc’s eyes were squeezed shut, he was shaking worse than Cris was and he didn’t seem to be coherent of anything. He couldn’t watch Cesc breakdown alone. And so he shook David’s hand of his shoulder gently and approached the young vampire. When Cesc made no move to even notice him, Iker knelt down and pulled him into his chest, running his hand through Cesc’s hair and whispering gently that everything was going to be alright. Even though he wasn’t sure how far that was true.
He glanced up, to make sure Cris was alright. Robin, in human form, was helping him sit up. Cris wore a similar tormented expression that Cesc did, and Iker could only wonder how they felt.
Sergio, Nando and Beckham all looked equally terrified at and worried for Cesc, who was still mumbling softly under his breath and shivering in Iker’s lap. Iker couldn’t blame them. He was scared, he didn’t know if Cesc would go crazy again and attack him instead. But Cesc needed him, and Iker had promised himself he would be there anytime Cesc needed him.
They were all so much in shock and recuperating, none of them saw it coming.
All Danny saw was a big, black blur, and then Robin was thrown away from Cris, and then there was a silver stake through his chest.
All Iker saw was a pale, stockily built man standing behind the still recovering Cris, plunging what looked like an industrial strength tranquilizer into the vampire’s neck, before he hefted the very unconscious vampire onto his back with a grin and then he was gone again.
What they all saw, was the black blur stopping to look over them. It was a large, completely black furred Were with feral yellow eyes and was easily taller and bigger than Nicky or Danny.
“Follow us and the boy’s mate dies.” Came the inhuman growl of the Were before it was a black blur again, disappearing into the forest.
They were all stunned momentarily.
Then Nicky, still in Were form, howled, scampering over to Robin, trying to nuzzle his older mate into moving.
Iker looked to the Danny. He’d reverted back to Were and Iker had never seen a Were cry before, but Danny did, as in wolf form, he curled around the very much distraught Nicky and howled.
All Iker could find in himself to do was to hold Cesc, who had gone deathly still in his arms.
*cries* I'm sorry Dann/Nicky. I'm sorry Robin! *cries*
