Again, I have neglected posting for a terribly long time.
I feel terrible really, I don't write (kay, that's like not completely true, I do write, just really crappy stuff that I don't think should see the light of day) I don't post.
But I guess now is as good a time.
I just came home from probably the most mind-blowing, engaging, soul-wrenching gig ever. I just saw John Butler Trio live, and they are just. Unbelievably good. The man is a genius and the rest of the world does not seem to know he exists. The man plays a twelve string guitar, a pedal with one foot to create a bass beat and pedals with his other foot for effects like wah-wahs and wails. He blows my mind with the melodies and stories and emotions he evokes with just his music. His bassist plays an electric bass while simultaneously playing a didgeridoo (I totally spelled that without having to check. I am Aussie inside! XD) His drummer/percussionist keeps a beat with one hand and foot while playing a xylophone? (something similar, only not as high pitched. I am not well acquainted with those instruments) with the other hand. Between the three of them they play like enough instruments for a band twice their size, and they keep in tight and smooth and seriously. They sound way better live than they do on record. The music they make is pure magic. And I got their autographs hnnnngggghhhh. They were all so nice, indulging my crazed rambling thanks.
John Butler Trio are completely underrated and under-appreciated, so I'm saying this. Go listen to them, give it a chance. Their music is amazing and moving. It's helped me through some tough times.
And tomorrow, I'm leaving for Pulau Dayang in Malaysia where I will once and for all learn how to dive. I am excited and I cannot wait. I hope I don't screw up. XD I'll be gone for the weekend, so I'll be MIA till Sunday night, my time.
