It's - possible... I didn't want to make any assumptions...

We only devote food and valuables to the gods in Babilym, but I've heard of shrines that offer livestock.

What else could they have been doing?

It's not unheard of, but it's still a bit strange that someone would do it here. What would they sacrifice? Frogs? Bears? People?

It's always possible. Bodies disappear after they die, so there's no real way of telling.

Well... I would rather think that someone who needed it took shelter within the temple, than someone use this place for human blood sacrifice.

The corpse disappears, yes, and then they reappear a day later, alive, in their room.

I agree that would be preferable.
