Information needed regarding Jungle Fury Character Bios
I have been working on a story involving Dominic/Jarrod when they were roomates at Pai Zhua and before Jungle Fury begins. A lack of background information regarding these characters has hindered my writing.
This is what is known about Dominic:
Dominic attended Pai Zhua (Path of the Rhino)
Dominic knew RJ at Pai Zhua (Path of the Rhino)
Dominic had been roommates with Jarrod at Pai Zhua (Path of the Righteous)
Dominic left Pai Zhua before completing his training
This is what is known about Jarrod:
Jarrod was a Pai Zhua student for ten years (Welcome to the Jungle I)
Jarrod had been roommates with Dominic at Pai Zhua (Path of the Righteous)
This is what is known about RJ:
RJ trained at Pai Zhua
RJ became a master and left Pai Zhua
RJ opened Jungle Karma Pizza at least one year before “Welcome to the Jungle” began
One fact about RJ that is canon but often questioned is his age. We are told that RJ is 21 at the time of Jungle Fury. It seems extraordinary that even an exceptional student could become a master and then leave home and end up running his own business by age 20. Either RJ completed his training in a short period of time or he started very young. Although Casey became a master at the end of “Path of the Righteous” there were unusual circumstances.
What I need to know:
How old are Dominic and Jarrod?
When did Dominic leave Pai Zhua?
If it turns out that one of these characters was eighteen or older and the other was under eighteen, that would be a problem. Also, if Jarrod is older than Dominic, that would also be a problem.
It would also be useful to know when these characters began at Pai Zhua. Casey started at age eighteen (according to the soon-to-be defunct Jetix website) but Lily was seventeen (according to the same source) and had to have been at Pai Zhua at least a year. That is not strictly canon, but is supported by dialog between her and Theo indicating they met at Pai Zhua had been friends a long time. Also, she had sufficient training to earn the right to be chosen as a protector. Of course, Casey earned that right after a couple of weeks but under unusual circumstances (which is often the case with his character).
Given that Casey was chosen as a protector almost immediately upon joining Pai Zhua Academy and Jarrod was only considered after ten years, that pretty much throws out the window any notion of a regular progression like in High School. It is as the whim of Master Mao.
It is plausible that Jarrod and/or Dominic are as old as 28 or as young as 20.
Given that Dominic last knew Jarrod as a cub prior to leaving Pai Zhua and Jarrod was there for ten years, Did Dominic leave nine years before Jungle Fury or was Jarrod a cub for more than a year? Was Jarrod a cub for several years? If so, I am beginning to understand his frustration with Master Mao.
