The rangers arrived at the designated exchange point, an abandoned manufacturing plant. They entered the building with weapons and flashlights drawn.
“I don't like this,” Scott radioed to Dr. K as he lead his team into the darkened building. “It feels like a trap.”
“Agreed,” Dr. K replied. “Proceed with caution.”
They heard a sound of tapping coming from further inside the plant. Scott followed the sound into and open area where he found Corporal Hicks inside a cage suspended by a cable. He was bound to a chair with his hands and feet tied and his mouth gagged. A hole in the roof allowed a beam of light to illuminate him but not the area around him.
“We're here!” Scott shouted. “We've brought Tyzonn! Show yourself!”
The whirring of grinders could be heard in the darkness.
“I will get him,” Tyzonn said.
“Be careful,” Gem implored.
Tyzonn slowly walked toward the Corporal. Suddenly a large cage dropped around him and Tyzonn barely escaped by turning to liquid and scattering across the floor. Molten lead poured into the cage where he was supposed to have been trapped.
The rangers morphed and rushed to the scene. They were intercepted by grinders but the lights on the ranger's helmets allowed them to see them.
Meanwhile the blobs of metal liquid coalesced into one large blob outside the cage where Hicks was being held. Tyzonn resumed his human form and attempted to rescue the Corporal. When he touched the cage he received a powerful jolt of electricity which made him shout with agony.
The rangers finished off the grinders and went to assist Tyzonn.
“Don't touch it!” he warned them. “The cage is electrified.”
“Gem, look around for a control switch,” Scott ordered. “Ziggy, stay with Hicks while I look around.”
As Ziggy stood guard over Corporal Hicks he heard the faint sound of a musical jewelry box, or perhaps, a pocket watch coming from a glass windowed office nearby. He entered the room to investigate when the door slammed behind him. He struggled to open the door but it would not budge. Ziggy started banging on the windows but they seemed inpenetrable. It became apparent to Ziggy, as well as the other rangers, that this was a trap.
“Ziggy!” Scott shouted, “Get out of there!”
Ziggy dematerialized out of the room but did not reappear.
“Dr. K, we've got a situation,” Scott reported. “Ziggy's missing. He may have been captured.”
----------
The young Mercurian parked the truck within fifty feet of the city wall and approached the gate on foot. He stood at the gate for a moment wondering what to do.
“Maybe I should knock,” he thought. So he knocked gently on the big metal gate and waited for a few moments. After nothing happened he thought to himself, “Time for plan B.”
He searched around the wall until he found a drainpipe. He turned himself to liquid and flowed into the pipe. He emerged through a grate in the street on the other side of the wall and returned to his human form.
“Too easy,” he thought.
A transport full of soldiers rolled down the street toward him ordering him to stop.
“Okay, maybe not so easy,” he said and ran down an alley. Soldiers chased after him on foot. He found himself cornered and decided to be captured rather than fight.
He later found himself being interrogated by Colonel Truman.
“What's your name?” he asked.
“Kelian,” said the young man.
“Where are you from?” the Colonel asked.
“I'm from another planet,” Kelian said matter-of-factly.
“I see you're some kind of wise guy.”
Kelian was confused by the remark. “Yeah, I guess,” he said.
“How did you get into the city?”
“Through a drainpipe,” he said.
“Really?” the Colonel said skeptically.
“Well, I knocked first but no one answered.”
“Why are you here?” the Colonel continued.
“I'm trying to find my father.”
“Who is your father?”
“His name is Tyzonn. He's got medium length blond hair and silver eyes, like me.”
Colonel Truman looked into Kelian's eyes. “I see…”
----------
“Well, well, well,” said Maximus to his prisoner. “If it isn't Dr. K's favorite ranger.”
Ziggy tried to transport but only succeeded in depleting his power which caused him to demorph.
“Don't try to escape,” Maximus warned him. “Your prison is electrically shielded. But now that you've run out of power there's no need for that.” Maximus operated a control panel which deactivated the electric shield. He opened the door and pulled the morpher from Ziggy's wrist.
“I'm not afraid to die,” Ziggy said defiantly.
“I'm not going to kill you, green ranger,” Maximus said. “Not yet, anyway. I need you as bait to lure Dr. K to me.” Maximus thrust his hand into Ziggy's chest pushing him onto the floor of the prison cell. He slammed the door shut and walked away while examining Ziggy's morpher.
Ziggy stood up and looked through the tiny window at Maximus as he left and wondered why he was after Dr. K and if he would ever see her again.
----------
Dr. K focused intensely on her computer screen as her fingers flew furiously. Her face was flushed and her eyes swollen. “Ziggy,” she muttered to herself. “I've got to find you!”
“I'm sure he's okay,” Gem offered.
“Yeah, you'll find him,” Tyzonn added.
“Dr. K, the Colonel is here to see you,” Scott interjected.
“Tell him to come back later,” she shot back angrily.
“I'm sorry I let myself in but there is someone here to see Tyzonn,” Colonel Truman said.
“Me?” Tyzonn said surprised.
Kelian entered escorted by a pair of guards. Tyzonn greeted him with a hug. “Kelian!”
“Dad! You're allright!” Kelian answered.
Tyzonn released his embrace of his son. “I told you not to come here,” he said sternly.
“He's your son?” Scott asked.
“I see the resemblance,” Gem added. “It's mostly in the eyes.”
Dr. K, who had mostly been ignoring the reunion turned her attention to the gathering in her lab.
“I can't concentrate with all this noise!” she shouted angrily. “This isn't an airport! Get out! Now! All of you!”
Everyone left the lab for the garage.
“Geez! What's her problem?” Kelian said.
“Ziggy is missing,” Gem explained. “She's trying to find him.”
“Who's Ziggy?” he asked.
“He's a Power Ranger,” Tyzonn explained.
“And Dr. K's boyfriend,” Gem added.
“Kelian,” Tyzonn interjected, “Why don't you go in there and try on some human clothes.”
“Alright,” he said and did as Tyzonn asked.
Inside the lab Dr. K wept with her face down in her arms, which were folded on the desk in front of her computer. Her sobbing was interrupted by a beeping sound. She raised her head to see a flashing green dot on her screen. “It's Ziggy!” she exclaimed as she wiped the tears from her face. “He's alive!”
