Fall: part 1

Aug 06, 2009 06:00

(because I'm nuts, I went to look up the definition of "Fall" and it has 24 meanings! So, again? Nuts. I decided to write a little story-thing for each one. But so far I've only got 6 done, so I'm posting it as far as it is now, and I'll add to it soon. :D <3 Nori)

Fall:
1. To drop or come down freely under the influence of gravity.

"Oh look," Sera said, pointing, and Josie turned to where she was looking. The wind was blowing gently and one single leaf had taken to the air from it's tree.

Josie smiled, held up one finger and ran in the direction the wind carried it, capturing it with a small "ah ha" and running back to Sera's side again. She pulled out a marker, and scribbled for a moment, then handed it to Sera with a smile.

Sera turned it toward herself, smiling at the words. "The first fall?" she asked.

"It fell. We fell. It is Fall. It seemed fitting." Josie started to walk and turned around when she realized Sera wasn't keeping up. She tilted her head and looked questioningly at her girlfriend.

"It's just... nice," Sera said, pressing the leaf to her chest. Then she reached out for Josie's hand and the two of them started down the road together.

2. To drop oneself to a lower or less erect position

Josie hated sitting up while watching movies, which is why when she got the chance, she flopped herself across Sera's lap, laughing when she got poked.

"What are you doing, Jos?" Sera asked, laughing too.

"Sitting up sucks. I thought I'd snuggle closer." She beamed, wrinkling her nose a little.

"That's not really snuggling." Sera pushed at her a little. "Come on, sit up."

Josie pouted and sat up, making a face. "It's better than sitting up next to each other acting all prim and proper," she murmured.

"Who said we're going to sit up?" Sera laughed, falling back against the bed and pulling Josie gently with her. "And I didn't really have prim and proper in mind."

"Movie?" Josie murmured, curling closer.

"Didn't really have that in mind either," Sera said, grinning.

3.- 1. To lose an upright or erect position suddenly.
2. To drop wounded or dead, especially in battle.

There was a loud rattle-crash sound and then the loud string of cursing started. "God damn motherfucking piece of shit assbag whore!"

Sera started to laugh, shaking her head. "Are you okay?" she finally managed, her voice choked with giggles.

"I tripped over our shoes," came the reply, from somewhere on the floor.

"That didn't answer the inquiry, love." She peeked over the side of the bed, trying to make out the shape of her girlfriend in the dark.

"Nothing's broken," Josie said, "though I'm not promising that I"m not wounded."

Sera turned on the light, then leaned back over. "That doesn't look very comfortable. How did you manage to wind up flat on your back like that?"

"I don't know. I just fell," Josie said, looking up. "You look like an angel with the light behind you." She smiled serenely.

"You're delusional. Clearly you've hit your head," Sera laughed, hopping up and holding her hand out to help Josie off the floor.

4. To go or come as if by falling

"What are you doing all alone out here?" She slipped behind Sera and wrapped her arms around her, pressing close against her back.

"Thinking. And watching the sunset." She smiled back over her shoulder.

"Watching the sunset alone isn't nearly as fun as it is with someone else." Josie pushed her hair back away from her neck and pressed a soft kiss against her skin. "Unless you really need time to yourself. I can go back in."

"No, don't leave," Sera said, leaning back against her with a sigh. "Watch with me, please."

5. To come to rest; settle

Josie turned over in the bed, smiling at the way the moonlight fell across Sera's face while she slept. The light smoothed the lines of her face, blunting the sharp angle of her nose and the line of her jaw, and it made her look even more peaceful than normal. Josie liked watching her like this, when she wasn't doing anything but dreaming-if her eye movements were any indication.

She leaned over, nuzzling Sera's neck softly, sighing happily. "I love you," she whispered.

6. To hang down

They had planned a real date night, and Josie dragged Sera with her to shop for a new dress for the occasion. They were walking through the department store when it had struck her that they should do something silly and they went to the makeup counter, getting crazy makeovers and trying not to laugh at the women who were SO serious about it all.

After that was done, they stopped in at the salon, asking for hairstyles to match their new faces. Sera had wound up with a fairly tame (though, it was wild for HER, certainly) hairstyle, pinned up and a bit foofy, but not insane. Josie, on the other hand had wound up with a fall of curls spilling down over her shoulders and another mass of curls twisted up on her head.

They both managed to hold off the sheer gigglefits until they were two blocks from the salon, simply by not looking at each other. But then Josie glanced toward Sera, and Sera was looking back and the next thing she knew they were holding each other upright and laughing hysterically.

"Okay, get me home so I can wash this crap off," Josie finally said, still giggling, "and if you're nice, I'll let you hop in the shower with me."

"If that's the reward for putting up with this makeover? I'd be willing to get one every day," Sera said, blushing just a touch.
