It is hot folks. As Heather has already pointed out. HOT! We've had the AC on for the last 3 days or so. I try not to keep it on all day, and we shut it off at night - it doesn't really reach the bedroom so it doesn't help to keep it on. But holy moly. I think we're headed to Poughkeepsie later to look for stuff to hang on the walls - and just to get out of the apartment. We need a drain stopper thingie for the kitchen sink..and something else, which I have forgotten at the moment.
My knee is getting better. It's still not 100% but it's the closest it's been since I hurt it. I wear the brace during the day, when I'm walking. Hopefully in the next day or so I'll be back to normal.
Lisa came up to visit Greg and I and it was fantastiiiiic. I made us dinner Wednesday night then we went and played mini golf and had ice cream. Thursday morning she and I had breakfast, and drove to Woodstock to wander around. It was HOT, but we shopped a little. I bought some raspberry white tea, YUM. And it was cheap, yay! It was so good to see her and just be able to relax and chat. A small part of me hopes I can convince her to move north after she's done with her commitment to the Fellows in Brooklyn next year. Maybe? Who knows...
I have been applying for jobs like a mad woman. I am on top of the school counselor search, but I've also broadened my horizon into social service positions. I need a job, I am running OUT OF MONEY. So, whatever comes up first is what I will be doing. A couple of the jobs sound really exciting and I hope I hear back from someone..soon. Ugh. Money.
My mom sent me an email last night telling me that she bought me a 3 knife set, yay! I need some sharp knives, because up until now I've been doing everything with a steak knife, and a paring knife. Zero fun.
My brother bought his woman an engagement ring. It's real folks...this is going to happen (maybe) and what a shit show it will be.
There's a woman who lives upstairs from us who I have tried to make friends with. She KNITS! But she does NOT want to talk about her knitting. DOES. NOT. She was knitting outside the other day so I wandered out and asked "What are you knitting?"....her response was "Just knitting"....I finally got her to say it was "sort of, a sweater" because she was bored. I tried to engage her by mentioning I knit, but no dice. Greg tried too last night when he ran into her..."Just knitting"...I have never experience anything like this before. Not to mention, she's got two fucking YAPPY DOGS that I might seriously have to knit muzzles for. Or...set them free. Into a large open field... They bark all day, at everything, all the time. They're on the 2nd floor so they can't SEE out the doors...so wtf? Shut the hell up.
I woke up at about 4am this morning to someone POUNDING on a door across the hall, apparently the guy who lives there is a bar kid. One of his VERY drunk friends was beating on the door like he was going to take the thing off the hinges - thank good they're firesafe doors and basically unbreakable. But I was scared! I woke Greg up, and we peered out the peephole. The guy eventually passed out in front of his friend's door. They eventually woke up and let him in. Seriously, this better not happen again. I'ma call the police.
But, all those things aside, I ADORE our apartment. It's perfect, and I love the location, and the POOL! The pool is amazing. Clean, big, and the perfect temperature. I adore it. Perfect after a day of moving furniture around and such. Or cleaning, which Greg and I did this morning, hardcore. Toilet, tub, kitchen, etc. You know how we do.
I am trying to enjoy my free time....but I need a job, yo.
