So, he'd done someresearch and played messenger-boy, and then went and researched some more, so Cal figured he'd covered enough bases that, if he wanted to go back to his room, no one would give him crap about it

Kind of. Cal tilted his head a little, shifting his eyes away from the ceiling and toward Claire. "All the zombie stuff?" he asked, as if she could be talking about anything else.
Once if felt like Claire was settled, Cal wrapped his other arm around her, shifting himself closer. "Just some stuff," he said, "about voodoo. Zombie curses. Witch doctors. Gremlins. Stuff like that."
Claire wrinkled her nose. "Oh, fun," accused Ms. I photograph dead bodies for art Fisher. "Think it'll help things get back to ... y;know, you can't really say normal here."
"I don't know. You just sounded weird," Claire said, also closing her eyes. Mmmm, warm boy next to her. "Like you wouldn't really care if they bit you."
"See, I was trying to tell Penelope that," Claire said, digressing from her musings on his tone. "She was all convinced she'd kill herself before they attacked if she could. I don't get that."

"Seriously," Cal muttered. "I mean, I guess I can see how it would suck to be bitten, but...is it weird to think that I've been through worse? They're not even that hard to avoid, although I bet they'll probably, eventually, invade the school and the dorms, but still..."
Okay enough to go check on Cal, anyhow, which was what she was doing. She roamed into the room uninvited and stood near the bed. "I hate this a lot."
It worked for hi, kind of.

Though something about his tone was ... off. "Are you okay with the zombie thing?"

Although he oddly kind of was. Maybe 'okay' wasn't the right word, he just questioned whether or not he could really care.
There was a hand in his hair, though, and Cal closed his eyes and could be okay with just about anything right now.

"I probably wouldn't care after they bit me. Can't imagine the thought process is very involved."

"I wonder if it'd be painful. I mean, beyond the initial biting."
