The world is ending tomorrow. What do you do today?

What, The Boy Who Lived is supposed to do something about the end of the world now, too?

You know what? I think I'll just sit back and watch it come.

I'm with you, kid.

Well, you know. It gets old being either the saviour or the downfall of everything everyone holds dear, depending on the date, time, location and barometric pressure.

But I suspect I don't have to explain that to you.

No, I understand the sentiment quite entirely. It's rather tempting to run away but then what's left for your identity?

What good is an identity if it's one that is not really you, anyway?

Is it you or is it not you? Just because it isn't what you would have chosen or what you decided for yourself doesn't mean that it isn't you.

You're right. I don't disagree. I would only wish for an identity of my own making, rather than the one forced upon me. Don't you hate being judged for a persona that you had no choice in assuming?

I ... honestly think that at this point the persona and the person are nearly indistinguishable. Fortunately or unfortunately they judment of one is the judgment of the other. You're young, I think. I'd tell you to walk away while you can and if not be prepared to deal with the consequences.

It's never just as easy as "walk away", though, is it.

And you're right again. Separating the two is impossible.

No. It isn't. But I notice that wasn't a question.

Which leaves you where?

Staring at an end I know is coming. And knowing I'll do what I have to when the time comes, whatever that might mean.

Which is all anyone can do, I think. At least you have the option of taking action. Dealing with the consequences isn't fun, but you do have the ability to MOVE instead of just waiting for it.

Of course. But there are still days when I wish all I had to do was sit back and let someone else take care of it all.

Sitting back and taking no action *is* taking action.

You know what I mean.

As much as I might like it to be, that's not the action I would take.

If it's not the action you would take, for whatever reason, predetermined or otherwise, expected or otherwise, then it's something you may as well get as comfortable with as possible I suppose. But yes, I do understand.

I'll never be comfortable having people expect more from me than I can deliver. I may get used to it, but it won't ever be comfortable.
