Meredith stood outside of Lee's door and knocked softly. She'd been looking forward to talking to him. And eating something other then take-out chinese alone in her apartment. At the first affirmative sound, she stepping into the office.

Hey. I'm here. She smiles. So, how are you?

He looks over his shoulder at her as he stands perusing one of his many bookcases. Other than wondering if my entire staff has taken leave of their sense? I'm fine. You?

Meredith leans against the doorframe and crosses her arms. So is that a slam at me, or has something new and exciting happened?

She raises and lowers a shoulder. Confused, mostly. Not sure what to do.

He grabs the book he was looking for and thumbs through it as he makes his way back to his desk, sitting down. He casually gestures to the couch to indicate Mere should take a seat, still not looking up from the text. Planning to run off to Africa, are you? Or do you have something else that's bothering you? Sophie...Dr. Shepard perhaps?

Meredith sits down, looking down at her hands. Not sure. Thought about it. You know. For a short while. I don't know.

Meredith flops back. I just... I don't know what I can say to you before you take a big club and bonk me over the head for being a moron. Because I've been doing a lot of that lately...

I hired you because I needed a competant resident on staff. Here, at County. Not on the other side of the globe. He comments, finally setting his book aside, along with a pile of paperwrok he intends to take home later. Did Kokoris dangle a place on his team in front of you wuth the caveat of volunteering overseas?

No. Meredith shakes her head. No. Of course not. Why?

Just trying to figure out why it is that you'd want to go gallavanting off when you've just started on here. He states calmly. Or is this always an issue with you? Inability to commit?

Meredith sighs and looks down, her voice when she answers is tired. It's not that I want to go running off, though it did seem like an intriguing idea. I just...

She shakes her head. No, Dr. Dubenko, I don't have issues with running away from my responsibilities, or an inability to commit. I'm sorry to have bothered you...

I just... I wanted to talk to somebody, but I don't have that many friends. I guess I was hoping we could talk... You know, as friends...
