Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: Zell's abilities are very typical in this world, since it is his canon home. Since he's been training in hand-to-hand combat since he was 13, Zell is very agile and also quite strong, despite his small frame. When the battle gets tough, he uses his
Duel Limit Break, which allows him to unleash a chain of attacks on his enemy, which often end in a powerful finish. He's a big fan of Combat King magazine, which has taught him five of his abilities. Of course, Zell also learned how to junction GFs and use para-magic during his training at Garden, though he generally prefers to use his fists.
Aside from combat abilities, Zell is also a fairly skilled mechanic. When he was young, he often helped out at the local garage in Balamb. Though he didn't take that career path, he retained useful knowledge when it comes to working with machines.
Zell has one minor physical abnormality - the tattoo on his face. It's just a regular tattoo, but being on his face, it really makes Zell stand out.
Personality: The most obvious trait most people see when they look at Zell is the fact that he's very loud and outgoing. He has seemingly endless amounts of energy, making it very difficult for him to stand still for very long. Whenever he gets bored, Zell can often be seen bouncing on the balls of his feet while practicing some punches. Though some people might see this as annoying, Zell usually has an easy time making friends, of whom he is very loyal and protective. Zell may have been given the nickname "chicken wuss," but it's more of a taunt than a proper description. As a child, he may have been a bit of a crybaby, but he as long since outgrown that. Zell is not afraid to stand up for himself and his friends, and might also have a bit of overconfidence as well.
Though he is very open and friendly, Zell is also very quick to anger and isn't afraid to show it if someone gets him upset. It's actually very difficult for Zell to hide his emotions, and there are those who use this knowledge for their own entertainment. Since he gets riled up so easily, Zell has always been an easy target for bullies. He often tends to act before thinking, and the connection between his brain and mouth is even more distant when his blood gets pumping - a trait that has landed Zell in trouble more than once.
Because of his impulsive nature, it's easy to imagine how Zell might appear to others as a little dim-witted and brainless, but that assumption would be entirely false. When it comes to his duties, Zell takes his training at Garden pretty seriously. As a Cadet, he was an excellent student and paid close attention in class. On many occasions, Zell was able to provide history and other information on locations and events that he visited with his team. He also enjoys reading for leisure, evidenced by the fact that he is a regular visitor at Garden's library, and also enjoys reading the Combat King magazines. Though he often gets caught on minor infractions, such as running in the halls, Zell has actually been very respectful of rules, ever since he was a child. Out in the field, he understands the importance of following orders, and was very much against disobeying the superiors when Seifer decided to deviate from the plan during their SeeD exam. Like a good military man, Zell is also very clean and a bit too anal about his room. He keeps it very tidy and almost never allows anyone inside. On the rare occasion he does let someone inside, they are not allowed to touch anything.
Aside from his friends, one of the most important things to Zell is his family. Though he spent part of his childhood in an orphanage like most of his other friends (a memory he had nearly forgotten, thanks to the side-effects of using a GF), Zell is very close to his adoptive family, especially his mother, who treats him as if he is their very own flesh and blood. Zell's whole reason for becoming a SeeD in the first place is because he looked up to his grandfather, who fought in the previous sorceress war. Zell still keeps grandpa's old rifles displayed on the wall in his bedroom. In the game, only Ma Dincht appears, but it is likely that Zell's father is a fisherman who spends time out at sea for extended periods of time.
And yes, Zell loves hot dogs.
What are your plans for the character in-game? To continue his career as a SeeD, striving to be the great soldier his grandfather once was. He'll also make new friends, enjoy time with old ones, take on missions, kick monster ass... The usual deal. I guess there was a previous Zell in the RP, but I'll be bringing him in without previous memories of that.
Anything else? Nah. Just that I'm following the rest of my canonmates and setting Zell at 17 'cause of Time Compression!
i) IC Questionnaire
What do you prefer to be known as?
Yo, I'm Zell! And don't even think about callin' me a chicken wuss!!
How old are you?
Seventeen!
Do you have any history in combat?
Yep! I've been practicin' hand-to-hand combat at Garden since I was a kid! I haven't been a SeeD for too long, but me an' my friends still kicked that evil sorceress's ass!!
If so, have you ever killed?
It's not like I ever murdered anyone or anything, but y'know... Bein' a mercenary and all, you're gonna get into fights, and the bad guys'll kill you if ya don't fight back!
i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity?
I do it right away! If it's gotta get done real quick, then it's probably somethin' important.
ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities?
Eh, not really. I like havin' fun and doin' stuff and all that, but Selphie's usually the one who sets it all up! One time I got dragged into one o' her committees, though. Last time I get roped into somethin' like that... It's a lot o' work!!
iii) What role do you take when working in a group?
I could totally be the leader!! C'mon, Squall, pick me this time! Pleeeaaaaaaasse??
iv) How talkative are you around other people?
I'm reeeaaaaally not shy around people, but I don't think I get too talkative... Right? Sometimes I can talk a lot, but not to the point where I ramble on and on and on 'til it gets SUPER annoying, and the other person doesn't get a chance to say anything. And if I know somethin' that no one else does, I like to help 'em out and share that stuff too!
v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning.
My T-Board so I don't get bored, and I gotta have some swim trunks so my clothes don't get all messed up and wet from the water!! And does a whole pile o' hot dogs count as one thing?
vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people?
Yeah, for sure! Why wouldn't ya wanna be liked by a lot o' people?
vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance?
Definitely! Never give up! If ya think you'll lose, you already lost before the fight even starts!
viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person?
Wha-- Me?? No, I don't think I... I mean, maybe sometimes just a liiiittle bit, but it's not that bad, really!!
ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life?
Yeah, workin' out plans can get pretty boring. It's more fun when ya wing it!
x) Do you like surprises?
Yeah! Well, I guess it depends. I wouldn't be too happy if ya just told me Ma's had a heart attack or somethin'.
xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you?
HEY!! The hell're ya tryin' to say?!!!
xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions?
No way! It's important to follow commands, even if ya disagree. 'Cause if ya don't, stuff can really get messed up out in battle!
xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages?
Ugh, no way!
