[Voice]

Looks like we're being led around by a rope, like usual. But you gotta' wonder-what good will it do to rile us all up into wanting to fight, into learning how to fight? Or have they forgotten that most of Luceti wants them either dead, or drinking through a straw? Either way, it's pretty incredible that they can't hold back these enemies, ( Read more... )

[ 'sup, preacher-man. You needed another thread with someone being a creeper in the forest and all. Don't mind Smellerbee being a tree-monkey a little ways away. ]

Nobody'll teach you anything with that kind of attitude.

[ This is not at all pot-and-kettle. ]

[He glances at the trees beyond, swatting away the fire spirit's presence for a moment to take up conversation; he grins.]

Aha, and you're a pro at learning from grumpy fire spirits?

[ Harumph. ]

What would I want to learn from one of those for?

It's just common sense.

What, you don't think setting someone on fire in the middle of a fight is a helpful thing to know?

[ Don't mind her power-glaring from her perch up here. Probably for the best that mister fire spirit isn't around, fff ]

No. I don't.

I think that it's a coward's way out of a fair battle. I think that kind of ability is just a helpful way to threaten people into getting whatever you want because they can't fight back.

[ And it's a damn good way to burn down villages. ]

[He blinks, genuinely surprised by the reaction. He honestly wasn't being serious--but of course, that's what leads him to think the kid didn't have a very fond appreciation for fire, or at least what comes of it.]

... Sounds like you've had a lot of experience with the element.

[Wolfwood's never one to let a glare bog down his calm replies, though. Especially from a kid; he's dealt with quite a few temper tantrums and genuine livid replies from the orphans.]

It was a dark little joke I should've been more careful with. I'm sorry.

She's really gotta work on accommodating for people with weird senses of humor. Probably lucky Longshot isn't around here today- or maybe it's not lucky because he'd have kept her from being so...well, obvious. Gotta work on not giving things away, too. Don't mind her sulllllking her way backwards a little and ignoring the first statement like a boss.

Whatever. It happens.

[He just offers a little smile, before he seats himself on the lowest little rock. He's got a few scuffs here and there from dealing with Eferin earlier, but they're pretty meh.]

... I was going to try learning water, but... Ha, maybe I should work on learning how to actually swim first.

[NOT ASHAMED THAT I'M A GROWN MAN WHO CAN'T SWIM, OKOK. :(]

[ WAY TO FAIL. ]

Just work on floating. Unless you're in a place that's completely underwater, it's usually all you need.

[ If the place is completely underwater, then there's no surface to get to and you'll just die. :|b ]

[He's not going to tell her he sucks at floating, too. It's just too sad.]

You all make it sound so easy... But I guess you probably learned how when you were younger, too.

[He itches the back of his head, grinning.]

My world... didn't exactly have anywhere to swim in, really...

Thaaat's right-nothing but desert, no matter which way you turn. And not a speck of a lake or an ocean in sight. Pretty grim, isn't it?

Pretty grim. It's not always the greatest, but water's good to be around.

I admit, it's not so bad once you get used to it. Lakes and rivers, I mean. They're actually really calming, when you're not being teleported into them.

[ Headtilt while she tries for picturing a world without any water at all. ]

Those things always look better when you're not stuck under them. [ Must really suck not to be able to swim, bro. ]

Well, it's about as bad as sinking sand... if not a lot more slow and painstaking to die in, I'm imagining. I've had a few times where I thought I was a goner, stepping in that mess.
