i had the opportunity to watch major league baseball. it's october and mr. october (reggie jackson of the 1970's yankees) is no longer the best player of october (the playoffs).

the announcers were talking about the players making a point, having pitchers throw balls at hitters (to hit the hitters with balls) or buzz them (barely miss?). apparently this is part of the game. to make hitters scared about the next pitch? i do not understand. can someone that watches baseball religiously please tell me why announcers did not go against the barbarianism? not one of the two announcers said "hey you know, we're talking about violence here and maybe we should let the audience know we don't believe it should happen." instead, they thought the DODGERS evened the POINT on the PHILLIES. some god damned point. what point? one announcer said to win. but gibberish happened and the point is to make a point. it sounded like palin in her special georgebushtypetalk interview: circular nothingness. what is the point? the point of the ball or the point of the head? is the point a bloody sunday? think i'll mention death here.

i really felt like i was in a twilight zone. like what planet am i on? i didn't understand why benches cleared in the first place. and as if the teams were gangs. but to get a certain amount of ball throwing at (a hitter that can kill potentially) before the umpire gives a warning?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!>....!?!?!?!!?!?!....!?!?!?>!>!>?!!>!>!>?!>>>....basically, you're allowed to head hunt with a ball if you're a pitcher until the warning. intentionally try to knock a player out of the game seems ok until after you do it. then you get a warning. so first pitch in baseball you can kill the leadoff man. a leadoff man is supposed to get on base a lot for the next hitters to make him score (or a point). then you will probably have a better chance at winning (???????)

can someone please explain this to me? i must be missing something. i even remember the announcer saying the point is to win but what is the point and the team has made their point and now the teams are even in (ball throwing at to hurt or scare of hurt, PHYSICIALLY..or kill).

maybe i should google this before livejournal it. you know, announcers usually say "that was uncalled for." in this case, they're saying 'part of the game.' if we want to talk philosophically, hitler was part of the game. but this is baseball. this is baseball? marianne moore, woman poet that most loved baseball, please explain? is it my time? i heard in your time (1920's?-- the umpires didn't get invovlved in ball throwing at and they just let it happen. that's what the announcers said. was that the good ole days? ah yes, when we had bats and balls to beat the

sidequestion: why is it when a ball is swung on and missed for a strike three, and the catcher doesn't catch it, the hitter gets to try to run to first base? or is it the catcher not catching it? does it have to do with strike three? so many questions just on this one thing i saw.

and the announcers didn't explain anything to me except that they were part of the meat.

why are they singing god bless america at the seventh inning stretch? what happened to take me out to the ballgame take me out with the crowd buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks i don't care if i ever .. ... so it's root root root for the home team and if they don't win it's a shame for it's one two three strikes you're out at the ole ball game.

what happened to that? why god bless america? what the fuck is happening!? doesn't the constitution state that thou shalt separate church and baseball?
