help w/ teaching lgbtqi issues to my class

May 17, 2004 13:39

alright, all, this is a call for help.

for my social work class, i'm going to be presenting on working with lgbtqi clients. i'm going to do myths, stereotypes, common issues for the population/how issues affect our population differntly [i.e. sexual abuse, eating disorders, drug addiction, homelessness/runaway youth, etc.], and whatever else i can think up in the next month before i present.

so, if you could tell a class of social workers one thing [you can do more if you want] about working with lgbtq clients [you or the community in general] what would it be???

and, also, a poll [since i'm not a paid user, i can't create a real one, but please leave yr reply in a comment].
if you could take a pill that would make you straight, would you?

thanks so much for yr help on this. i'll probably be re-posting this again as the time draws nearer.

p.s. i'm planning on sharing some of these answers with the class [but not yr name or anything]
