Destiny of the, well, Daleks
So, Tom and Mary totally found the last segment and everyone was saved. From memory I think it was Lalla Ward and then they made up the Key to Time only Four went a wee bit crazy but then he got better and then the Grauniads fixed it all the Key was sent back to being bits of stuff including I believe Lalla Ward. Something happened about the Black Grauniad, it was not that important really.
THEN what happened is...
Here we are at one of the best DW bits ever, which is to say Romana's regeneration. Don't worry I am sure Mary lasted decades, just we never saw that. Romana just feels like a change, and why not.
K-9 has laryngitis, the Doctor is confused by Princess Lalla being on board. He is like "NOES, you can't just copy other people!" and she is like "STFU, I totes fancied her and you did as well." Romana tries on various alieny bodies, and Four disapproves of all of them. "What you want is something warm and sensible, something that'll wear well. Something with a bit of style and, well, style." Romana reappears in Lalla's body and Four's clothes. It is in no way hot. Oh yeah they have a randomiser now in case they evil Grauniad finds them and kills them.
I am failing to sell how funny this bit it, but it is. Romana appears in a pink version of the Doctor's clothes and takes some anti-radiation gloves. "Oh, look, rocks!" Then the Doctor puts K-9's brain in the wrong way round. Why do you think he had a pink version of his own clothes? Is it in case he became a woman or for playing dress-up with companions? So begins Romana's exploration of fetish clothing. I can't think of a bad story that has Companion Cross-Dressing in it. Surely there is one?
They are in A QUARRY. OH HOW I MISS QUARRIES. The TARDIS loves a good quarry, they are the highlight of her life. She isn't as keen on all this CGI stuff, it gives her indigestion.
Romana licks some rock to tell what kind it is. That is how amazing she is. It is concrete, so the planet is or was inhabited. I wonder what by, IF ONLY THE TITLE CONTAINED A CLUE. They explore some and then liek an earthquake happens. Only not an earthquake but drilling underground.
Some people in rags arrive and bury a dead person in a pile of rocks. It is a bit sad that the rest of the story will never again be as good as the opening scene, but then very little is. We are in Terry Nation Land now. The dead person has plot attached, which is that the people are not local to the planet or something. Ooh, a spaceship appears in the sky.
There is a lot of Four/Romana touching in this, btw. Romana identifies the spaceship and it burrows into the ground a bit. HANDPORN! The there are explosions from underground and they run away. Stuff collapses and Four is trapped by polystyrene concrete, o noes! Romana can't lift it because she is fragile. She goes to get K-9 to help. K-9 could maybe handle this terrain as it is mostly concrete. Four reads a book by Oolon Coluphid, thus making Hitchhiker's Guide DW canon. Win!
Here comes Tyssan, who has a Terry Nation Name. I used to think his acting was weird but then he turned out to be deaf irls. I don't think the character is deaf. Meanwhile the TARDIS is buried under rocks and Romana goes "fuck it." It is time for more anti-radiation gloves but Four has kept them all out of stupid. Then the Movellans arrive and he does a complex and lolarious double-take.
Romana returns to find that there is no Doctor. I like how there are no Daleks yet in case you didn't know what the title was. Tyssan scares Romana because she is afraid of deaf people for some reason, then she falls down a hole. Luckily he is a forgiving sort and gets a rope out to rescue her.
Four is on the Movellan ship. They are Ethnically Diverse, yay! OSHIT, says Four, discovering they are on Skaro. Romana is in a small room with studio lights in it. This is not a mistook, it is part of the actual set-dressing, so don't worry. The walls vibrate. Romana steps back and then DALEX come through the walls, shouting as they do. Romana presses against the wall because they will help her escape. CLIFFHANGER!
DON'T PANIC, I will not be doing this forever. Just until I get bored of it.
