perpetually late, always on fire

"maybe the world is wrong", said the young man.

my watch is fifteen minutes slow*. it is a blessing in disguise. it allows we to enjoy breakfast, as big as pancakes and as small as toast. it also allows me longer lunch breaks, as to stand by the Panera sample table and casually continue to eat it's sesame topped bread with their (delicious!) dipping sauce, all the while framing my face with a look of a detective, someone considering deep in thought, as to whether to purchase the product**. these minutes that bleed over onto time that I have appointed to paychecks and managers, seem all the more wondrous and/or rebellious, I am robbing, thieving, ripping away time like a child feeds his pockets with candy that pours from an empty pinata. it's refreshing, calming effects are only fully released when you get to work and realize that you are not indeed in "deep shit."

*universally, every watch I own, including digital alarm clocks.
**This is where I feel the acting course I took at Oakland Community College has paid off in huge dividends.
