Thank you for your comment. ^___^ I liked the beaten animal line myself, if only because that's really what Tony reminds me of. He keeps getting yelled at and beaten down by people he calls his friends, and he rarely defends himself unless they actually come to blows.
How much can one soul take?
Tony's definitely paid a hell of a price for everything that's happened, and yet, everyone seems determined to make him keep paying until he breaks, regardless of how strong their relationship with him was beforehand.
Somehow I doubt that Steve would be happy with that. He'd be angry and hurt and maybe even cold at first, but he would still forgive in the end, or at least try to understand.
(Somehow, I'd like to think that my brother's first reaction to me screwing up wouldn't be to beat me with an electrified hammer.)
LOL! My sister, too. :)
Yeah, the whole Civil War mess is something I pretend didn't happen. Either that, or the entire Marvel U is made up of Skrulls and the real heroes and going to come back to Earth after an adventure in space and be like WTF?!
I rarely worry about canon in Marvel or DC anymore. They don't, so why should I? If they don't like something, they retcon it out of existence! I take the parts of canon that isn't insane and go from there. :)
How the hell is it possible for him to still be at all rational? Marvel had Hank almost kill himself once before, and he never went through anything even a QUARTER as bad as this.
Are they forgetting their own canon? A man who's an alcoholic, has a deep-seated guilt complex, has nearly zero self-esteem, and whose actions helped cause the death of his dearest, oldest friend (and lover, if you like), and he's not in the Marvel equivalent of Arkham Asylum??!!
I suppose TPTB would just have Tony kill himself and be done with it but Iron Man is too important to the company (new movie coming out and all).
It does sound like Tony has things to answer for, but does any of his old friends really think he wanted this? Sure, he was on the other side and he chose to be, but if he now realizes it's a mistake or regrets what happened, isn't he going to need someone to be there for him? Even when the Batman is at his snarling 'keep-away-from-me' worst, there are still people trying to reach out to him.
I guess Marvel's version of the Bat doesn't get that luxury.
