Yes, I am late to the party. Anyway. This fanmix is based solely on Civil War: The Confession, because everything else is occasionally so wildly OOC that I remember at some points doing a double take and wondering if there was another character who just happened to look a lot like Steve / Tony / whoever was spazzing out that day. I'm pretty sure that in the decision to write Civil War: The Confession, this is the conversation that took place:
"Guys, we have a problem."
"What?"
"Well, we've had Tony (and everyone else) acting kind of and sometimes totally out of character for most of Civil War, and we've essentially made everyone hate him."
"Yes...?"
"Well, now that we've killed off Captain America, Tony's our main Avenger guy. Major title character and whatnot. Why would people buy a comic about a guy they hate?"
"Oh, fuck."
"I know."
"I was so enjoying making everyone think he's a heartless, amoral bastard, too. How the hell do we fix this?!"
"I think... I think, for at least one issue, we should make him act completely like himself."
"My god... it's so crazy, it just might work."
