Christmas in Who-ville

I moved out of the EconoLodge and into my apartment yesterday. I can hardly believe how smoothly everything has gone so far. My windshield got a crack in it on Friday, but that's really been the only unpleasantness. Someone's coming to fix it tomorrow.

Yesterday I walked around the neighborhood and to Discovery Park which is amazing. I can't believe I live within walking distance of such a place! Just walking through the streets here gives you quite a workout due to the really steep hills. There are bike routes, but oh my goodness, you would have to have thighs of steel to ride a bike here.

My future co-workers had a party for me and another new person on Friday night. They are a friendly and very social bunch of people, and I think they will be awesome co-workers. I found out I'll be traveling to Oregon and Montana soon, and working on some kind of digital library project, and possibly walking a half-marathon in the spring, and maybe getting a manicure while all the non-ticklish people get pedicures. Fun times ahead!

Even though I'm thousands of miles away from all my friends and relations, I'm finding myself with more Christmas spirit this year than last year. I'm not sure what it is. I feel a little bit like Cindy Lou Who... I'm sleeping on an air mattress in a completely bare apartment. The moving company is still holding my furniture and all my Christmas decorations hostage, and the rental company made off with a big chunk of my checking account, but I'm perfectly content to sit on the floor and read and listen to Christmas carols on my little radio. Happy holidays, everyone!
