Sayonara autumn! Yokoso Kurisumasu!

Well, November is finished. It didn't have quite the punch of October, but it was nice in its own way.

Thanksgiving saw me at the kaiten sushi restaurant once again. For some reason, every time I had a hankering for sushi in the summer, XiuLing was dead set against going. But now she's perfectly happy to go any old time. Such are the mysterious ways of women.

Then, when Go came to Osaka last Saturday, we celebrated our second Thanksgiving at an all-you-can-eat Indian restaurant. XiuLing and I had been there before, but when the three of us were at the Expo in Nagoya, we met the owner (or a man who claimed to be the owner - I'm not sure, I don't know the owner personally), so we went there again.

It's at times like this that I miss American food the most. On regular days I don't mind what I eat, and almost anything will do. Although I have the occasional craving for something I can't get here, it's never as bad as at a special holiday when the traditional delights are out of my reach.

And now that December is upon us, the endless march of Christmas music, TV commercials, and lighting displays has begun. Of course, those are all part of the charm of Christmas in Japan, where the holiday was thoroughly commercialized to begin with. So don't feel guilty when you go out to buy presents - it could be worse.

*Trivia Note: XiuLing and I had our first kiss on Christmas. And I proposed to her on Christmas too. So it's a good day in the Stockton household no matter what religion you follow. ^_^
