this is quite possibly one of the most meaningful posts I've read in a long time. I had a fear that something like this might happen and wish political power wasn't abused. WE have seen enough of that as it is... I guess I have a particularly vested interested stemming from my mom's family fleeing Vietnam to escape a government that was forcing itself on the people. Yes, she got to escape to America, but no person should be oppressed in their own home (or anywhere). So yeah, this article was so very deep and powerful. I definitely gonna take a peek at the related articles.
On a not so related note, but yet dealing with injustices, I have a paki friend whom I'm always conversating with him about discrimination and stuff to the Muslim world. We talk about it, and I get riled up, yet he stays so calm. He's very aware, but the world still turns to him, and he is hardly phased by it, sometimes telling me to not take some things so seriously. His explanation is usually that life is bigger than that and there's plenty of other people who deal with prejudices. While I don't deny that at all, I feel somewhat puzzled by his nature. How is that possible? I mean, I feel like I'm exposed to pathetic attitudes towards our own species for the silliest thing and I just can't stand it. Any personal thoughts on that??? Perhaps I went off the deep end here, or maybe this might not be the proper time to bring it up. Although any kind of response will be greatly appreciated.
