1. My username is nosce_te_ipsum8 because in the movie, "Nosce te Ipsum" is above the entrance to Otto's lab, and it seems to be the central theme in his life. Things tend to go very, very wrong when one forgets who they are. The '8' is because 'nosce_te_ipsum' was taken, and because... well, if I have to explain why I picked that number, then you haven't been paying attention.
2. My journal is titled "....:: ::...." because I didn't feel like titling it, and it looked spiffy. Besides, I felt that if anyone were to buck the system and refuse to title his journal, it would be Otto.
3. My subtitle is "particle physics, eliot, and a nice cup of tea", because he's a particle physicist, he likes t.s. eliot (or so he says. I think it's all because of his wife, personally. He wouldn't give a fig otherwise), and he does like his tea.
4. My friends page is called friends because it's his friends page and for chrissake, I can't be clever all the time.
5. My default userpic is the one on this post because I like his shoulders. And I'm rather proud of the icon. Er... and it says 'Octavius'? It's the most general of the three, and I can apply it to any sort of post whatsoever. It also makes him look somewhat distinguished, what with the hat and all.
