Batman Confidential

Well, normally I wouldn't do this, but I couldn't help but notice a particular trend in this week's comics purchases. Lots of Booster, Secret Six and Green Lantern, yes... but quite a few people got Batman Confidential.

This current arc involves Riddler and Batman teaming up to take down King Tut, and well - I hadn't read Batman Confidential before, but I was certainly going to pick that up.

Things I liked: Pretty much everything.

- Riddler. I really like him when he's well written. There are some stories with characters that manage to do them so well that you just take notice, there are some stories that just write them so out of character that you can't resist the urge to complain about how out of character they are. Then there's stories that aren't WHOA at all, and are simply In Character and Well Written, and this was one of them.

- King Tut. I love this guy! That little kid in me that obsessed over Egyptian Mythology just loves this sort of stuff. He's a man that dresses in a pharaoh's outfit whose origin story is that he got really pissed off when a museum wouldn't bring Atem's light to Gotham. How awesome is that?

- Subversion of Damsel in Distress - Damsel in Distress is so overplayed, I couldn't help but be amused that she was on the Villain's side all along.

- The art. Just... the art.

I did have a few problems with it. Mostly nitpicky little things that don't matter (I don't really like to focus on the negative if I liked it, so I'm not going to go into detail) and the occasional "...So she's been spending half the arc in her underwear."

Ahem. Apparently I had a lot more to say than I thought I did.

dc comics, riddler/edward nigma, batman/bruce wayne, speculation, reviews, spoilers
