OK, Noscans_daily.
This is a total fangirl ubergeek moment. Pardonne moi pour une moment...
But a friend linked to this post
Simply put, when someone says “that’s my Scott and Jean,” it essentially means “that’s my geek sacred cow.” It’s the issue/coupling/whatever that you pretty much can’t discuss because you are too passionate about it and it makes you too crazy. You might hear perfectly reasonable arguments against said coupling/issue/whatever, but you cannot process them and so I just had to ask... coz I know some of us out there have one...
Who's your Scott and Jean? And why?
Now I didn't get into comics way back when because I liked certain pairings. I mostly got into them coz my brother and dad collected them. And I watched the animated X-men and Batman series. And then I was like... hey... wait a minute... I kinda like some of these people paired up together. This is kinda gold. It's like... icing on the spandex-wearing, butt-kicking cake.
I always thought Scott and Jean were kinda meh, but that love/hate thing between Rogue and Gambit -- man, it floored me. Then I saw Harlequinade and Cat Scratch Fever and I was hooked on those pairings. So much so that if I see Bats with someone other than Selina (like... Talia...) it seems off. Brain does not compute!!
I'm a total dork over Joker and Harley, I guess they're my Scott and Jean -- and I absolutely recognize the ahh! abusive! aspect. But I'm all over the dichotomy of the evil villain love/hate, tenderness/violence and lust/affection. So much that I was so very excited when I convinced one of my close guy friends to read Mad Love just recently. (I did all this selling of it, then I said 'Harley in a barely there negligee' and bam! it was sold. Should've started with that first... )
Alright, I'm done geeking out. Maybe. Feel free to comment or tell me to stfu. Well, would prefer the former over the latter. ;-)
