Greetings True Believers! I mentioned in a earlier post that I was taking my nephew to my local comic shop for the first time because he just got excited about comics. We had a great time! I took him over and basically let him do his own thing. I was aching to make suggestions but I hung back and let him pick a selection of new stuff and back issues. He did pretty well, from the new stuff he bought Iron Fist, Dark Avengers and Deadpool and from the back issues he selected Batman, Punisher and Black Panther (Priest's run thankfully, if he selected hudlin then I would have put my foot down. ;) ) I only said no two other times when he tried to get copies of Punisher Max and Ironwood. He's only ten and maybe I'm being a bit over-protective but some things should wait.
The Comic Book Guys were cool and gave him the discount they usually give me. Then we went to my place and gave him bags and board and showed him my collection and gave a speech about protecting your books from damage. Then I gave him an old Superman t-shirt I had and a stack of old Wizard magazines.
Maybe he's stop or lose interest in a couple months/years but he's smart, sensitive and an artist. I believe the fan-force is strong with this one. Either way I had a great time!
(This is a picture he gave me when I picked him up, he's in karate class (TKD?) and really into Iron Fist. Don't worry mods! He gave me permission to use it!)
