I envy your bookshelf-fu and was actually vaguely terrified of how many of the figurines I recognized, and I actually kinda wanna read the Encyclopedia of Fantasy
*realizes just how bad her bookshelf has gotten and goes off to organize)
*has The Encyclopedia of Fantasy and about ten other reference books of its ilk* *has no shame about this fact*
I love your shelves! Combing through other people's libraries is one of my favorite ways of being nosy, so this is great.
Erm. Michael Chabon is speaking tonight at my local library. I was kind of on the fence about going, since I've been running around to a bunch of events today, but ... do you want me to go and, like, ask a question for you?
IS, I suspect it's too late now, but you should go to hear Chabon speak! I've heard good things. And...well, the only question I can think to ask is, "How are you so awesome?" but I suspect that woulnd't go over too well :-)
Dude, you should post a pic of your bookshelves! Then we can all be nosy!
Have just returned. Great fun - may post on it, and the Gaiman reading Thursday night, a little later. Believe me, though, people asked dumber questions than that during the Q & A. XP
Ahaha. Yeah. Um, at the moment most of my books are in storage: what I've got here are just a select (and indescribably messy) couple of shelves with maybe ~300 books total. Not counting the comics, which are in boxes. I stopped counting how many books I owned around the time I left college: at that point I was at 1,200 or so. At this point, I have considerably more than that. I have lots. It's...fun, moving.
You poke through peoples' DVD/VHS collections too, yes? I think that you can learn some interesting things by comparing someone's book collection vs. their movie collection. Sometimes there is startling discord between the two.

Second, one of your favourite books of all time is The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Just when I thought I couldn't love you more...♥
