"Do you ever have that dream, where they fly in through the window?"

I'm on Day 2 of the fall semester and things are going...well, not well, but for some reason I'm not as insanely stressed out as I'd expected.

There was a bit of a hiccup with one of my composition courses (I wasn't informed that the college had purchased a new edition of the textbook, thus rendering my syllabus and all of my carefully-constructed lesson plans obsolete) but it felt more like a minor setback than the "OMG the world is ending! CATASTROPHE!" reaction I would have had last year, had something similar occured. I guess experience does count for something. At any rate my students all seem pleasant enough and I'm determined to have more fun this year.

(Um, newsflash: I don't really know how to have fun. Everything is srs bizness, whether it's teaching or fandom or hanging out with my friends. And yes, this makes me a blast at parties.)

Anyway, my new resolution for this fall term is to relax a bit, to be more flexible in terms of meeting the students' needs, and to try to take things in stride. If the worst thing that happens is that I end up looking foolish or I don't know the answer to something, well, that's not the end of the world.

Because I'm pretty sure that this is the end of the world:

Or possibly this:

At any rate, there is other stuff to focus on. September/October brings many good things, right? Like the ongoing dS Match (only 3 days left! Aieeeee!) The looming completion of yet another long story! (That's two fics of over 20,000 words this summer! \nos/). The fall TV season! Um, Halloween! I just have to survive the next couple of weeks and then it's golden, baby. *grits teeth*
