First, happy belated birthday to
scriggle! It was a lot of fun meeting you at TIFF last autumn, and I hope we can hang out again soon!
And now, my Sticker Family, as gakked from
aukestrel.
Create your own family sticker graphic at pYzam.com You'll note that we have the same glasses, and
scarfe's hair is rather conservative. He's one of those guys who will have the same haircut at seventy that he had at seven. His hair just does not change. Mine, on the other hand, is always cutting-edge. Just look at that bob!
I leave on Thursday for
con_txt, and after that I'm sticking around Washington DC for a week to play tourist with the lovely and brave
omphale23. She posted a list of what we might do
in her journal, and I am sort of insanely excited.
And look at our agenda!
Monday: Touristy stuff and Summer Film at the National Theater.
Eeee! It's a Bette Davis movie! In an old-timey theatre! And the "touristy stuff" sounds delightfully vague.
Tuesday: ...Baltimore for the day, depending on transit options. Or possibly the beach. Because, PONIES!
Apparently there is an island in Maryland? With ponies? And you can swim, and look at the ponies? My only context for Baltimore is The Wire, so we'll see.
secretlybronte says they have good seafood. So, seafood and drugs. And possibly ponies. This is my kind of trip!
Wednesday: Cheesy Dept. of the Interior Museum. Other museums as determined by Nos.
I shall determine museums! I really am excited to see that Dept. of the Interior museum, too. What could it possibly involve? What IS "the interior"? (Joking, I swear. I know. Sorta).
Thursday: Botanic Garden, Library of Congress, various wandering about downtown. Dave Matthews cover band that night.
Say it with me, folks. Dave Matthews cover band. YES THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BEST TRIP EVER IN THE HISTORY OF EVER.
Friday: Georgetown? Dunno; I'm open to ideas. Either learning to tango at the Kennedy Center or the guided monument tour that night. Oh! Cathedral visit!
I'm a bit leery of this "learning to tango" business, because I do not dance. I sort of lumber. But the guided monument tour looks cool. I intend to stand in the Lincoln Memorial and spin around and pretend I'm in
Bob Roberts.
Only five days! Eeeep!
