The authors behind
remixthedrabble were (very quietly) revealed on Sunday.
isiscolo blew me away with her
Two Axes Remix of my own
Space and Time. She also did a terrific job with
Lifeline (The Louder Than Words) remix of my Wilby Wonderful story
Quiet in Drowning.
I'd guessed Isis was responsible for the Wilby remix, since some of her beta suggestions on the original story leaked through to her remix, and it also featured some of her trademark quality and attention to characterization detail. I hadn't guessed she was behind the Two Axes Remix, since I don't normally associate her with more experimental or poetic forms. (Which just goes to show you how dumb I am, because she also did the creative
Temptation remix of
malnpudl's classic
Evidence). Isis was a very busy fangirl, as she did
five drabble remixes in total for the challenge.
Isis' feat really impressed me, as I struggled to complete just three remixes. Although they're long for drabbles, I found the hardest part was trying to keep the word count low and find a point of access in the original work. It was intimidating to be assigned such talented authors to remix:
malnpudl,
keerawa and
exeterlinden's original stories were rich and complex, which offered almost too many choices and I had a tough time deciding what I wanted to do with them. Luckily I had the help of
vienna_waits, who is worth her weight in beta gold, and she helped me narrow things down and avoid posting a remixed story that didn't meet the challenge requirements (more on that later).
Anyway, I completed three remixes for the challenge:
