Dispatches from the Western Fangirl Stronghold

Dec 29, 2007 01:06

Things I have learned in the past 12 hours:

1. Travelling by Greyhound bus? Not as bad as I remember. I suspect the key thing is to take short trips. Those 24hr stretches? Not great. But 4hrs is easy as lyin'.

2. It is very difficult to get a cab in Victoria. I suspect they hide them away inside the Royal Museum. The nearby Wax Museum is very useful in the creation of taxi cab decoys.

3. zabira is possibly the coolest person ever. We met in the hotel room and made vague plans to go to lunch, and then spent the next three hours talking nonstop. I think we finally agreed to an early dinner. She is funny and sarcastic and flirts with very young waiters, and we were quite possibly separated at birth.

4. The only slightly questionable thing she has done is to suggest that "if you put Ray Kowalski and Benton Fraser together, they would make Jane Eyre." I have chosen to overlook this rather odd statement because zabira figured out how to hook up the DVD player to the hotel's TV. It only took us 2hrs to watch "Strange Bedfellows." The pause/rewind button is our friend.

5. I'm going to write that damn radio plot bunny. We came up with an outline and everything. Ray will wear his glasses in the control room and Fraser will fall in love with the sound of his voice.

6. I am a very sleepy Nos. But I have a zabira and all seems right with the world.
