The Departed

*sob* I had to say goodbye this morning to ignazwisdom, who is off to eastern Ontario to visit another friend in Kingston. I didn't want to give her up! Saying goodbye was very difficult, and I may have gotten a little teary as we hugged in mid-morning traffic and I hopped out of her rented Yarris to catch my bus to work. I'm pretty sure it's the only time someone has gotten teary-eyed in a Yarris. We've had a fabulous week of death-defying adventure and thrilling escapades in Toronto, Stratford, Niagara Falls and points in between, and now I have to wait a whole five days until the next wave of fangirls rolls in! (And by "wave" I mean "two"). Iggy might have to swing back through this way before she catches her flight out of Pearson airport, so hopefully we can coordinate and she might get a chance to meet omphale23! After which I would die. Because having two awesome fangirls in the same room might cause some kind of natural disaster involving...lava. I'm going to say lava.

I'm wildly behind in comments and email (sorry j_s_cavalcante! sorry jem80!) and my big plan was to catch up on everything today. Except I took Mydol for the first time, and it turns out that it makes me incredibly dozy. Moreso than NyQuil, even, and we all know how well that turned out. Taking a pill for pain relief should not make you believe you're caught in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, nor should it void your basic motor skills. I'm at work and I have to explain complicated bus routes to people, but I can't even operate a touch-tone telephone! To make myself and my poor fuzzy-headed brain feel better I'm going to go buy some chocolate from the vending machine and read through my neglected f-list. A few highlights from the pile of stuff I'm only beginning to dig through:

omphale23 has completed her incredible Soundtrack Project. Click the link to read fourteen stories from across the Six Degrees fandom, including incredible pieces written about HCL, WW, Frank's Cock, For Those Who Hunt the Wounded Down (my personal favorite), dS, Twitch City, and many more.

You can also sign up for a new Apocalypse Fic challenge, in which a prechosen disaster occurs and you write the response in your fandom of choice. I really like the idea of the characters in due South responding to the cataclysmic event in which the characters of say, Torchwood, have to deal with. Must be the old comics fangirl in me. (Seekrit message to ignazwisdom: lookee! Apaco-fic! You know you want to!)

And finally, loneraven is running a Slings and Arrows fanfic exchange/challenge. I know late August is going to be busy for everyone (particularly parents and students) but do try to sign up. The New Burbage folks depend on your patronage! And we get more fic that way, too!

All right. More later, folks!
