Today was my big night off, and I rented Thank You For Smoking, Maria Full of Grace and Hard Core Logo (because, yeah. It was time. And also I would have to turn in my Canadian fangirl badge if I didn't). But then the following things happened:
1) The Thank You For Smoking (a very engaging and rather biting look at tobacco lobbyists) DVD crapped out about halfway through.
scarfe and I were thrown, because it's a brand-new release and the disc seemed to be in fairly good condition. We had to turn it off.
2) Then I put in the VHS copy of Hard Core Logo I'd rented, and it didn't even work a little like the other DVD had - it was just snow with some random audio track thrown in for fun. Grrrr!
3) Feeling bored and lonely because
scarfe was playing his Star Wars video game, I decided to watch the last three episodes of Slings and Arrows but the .zip file of the final episode isn't working with my StuffitExpander and I have to re-download and try opening it with another application.
So, way too many technical difficulties for one night. They may be a sign that I just need to go to bed already, but it was my one night off when I didn't have to wake up at 4:30am! C'mon!
Also that weird rash that left my hands cracked and raw every winter since I was eighteen and began working at Tim Hortons has definitely returned. It went away over the past year while I was only doing school, but now it's back and my fingers itch like crazy. Blisters are forming, and soon I won't be able to bend my index finger without a lot of pain and bleeding. I have no idea what causes this, and because I have no health insurance I'm a little scared to try to see a specialist. It's like, hey, the Tim Hortons thing isn't demeaning and embarrassing enough on it's own, now you've also got to do it while dealing with a severe skin condition! I reiterate: c'mon!
