Day for women's rights and world peace.
(excerpt from the text: "To fight for this natural human right must be the invincible, adamant will of every woman, of every worker. No rest and no break!")
("8th of March is the day of rebellion of the working women against kitchen slavery")
(Women's march on Versailles, 1789)
It is often forgotten how closely linked the fight of women is with the fight of the working class for a better tomorrow: Clara Zetkin, Rosa Luxemburg, Emma Goldman, Alexandra Kollontai. The women led demonstrations on March, 8th in 1917 toppled the centuries old regime of the czar in Russia, as over a century before the women led revolts toppled the feudal regime in France in 1789.
"Everyone who knows anything of history also knows that great social revolutions are impossible without the feminine ferment. Social progress may be measured precisely by the social position of the fair sex." (K.M., 12th December 1868)
